I have searched but did not see this posted.

Just received email from Chase. Looks like there is no DD required.
AFAICT, the only requirement is to link the checking account to Chase biz cc and a min. $500 deposit.

Linkie here

So we have to keep a small balance on the CC? No big deal.
Hotness, I love these offers.

EDIT: Nm, guess it means we just have to have a balance for one statement. Then pay it off, nice.

I wonder if we have to have a balance once for every statement or just one time.

I will open an account in a few days.

The link doesn't even mention anything about the credit card requirement:

*Offer valid when opening a new Chase BusinessClassic SM Checking,BusinessClassicSM Checking with Interest, Advanced Business CheckingSM, Advanced Business CheckingSM with Interest, Commercial Checking, Commercial Checking with Interest account, or Chase BusinessPlus® Extra Checking account. Accounts are subject to account opening approval (interest bearing accounts are only available to sole proprietorships, non-profit,and government entities). A $500 minimum deposit is required into your new business checking account within 30 days of account opening. Initial deposit must be made with funds not held with Chase or its affiliates. Limit one business checking account related award/premium per customer, per calendar year. Offer not available on account conversions or in combination with any other offer. Cash bonus will be automatically deposited into your new Chase business checking account within 10 business days upon confirmation of the deposit requirement. Cash premium does not count towards the deposit requirement. Bonus is considered interest and will be reported on IRS Form 1099-INT.

I think the deal is open to all, but an active cc is required to avoid the monthly fee....

Also, offer is one per person, not one per household, so wifey can open her own account - an easy $400.

It was from the email that I received.

Attached is a screenshot of the email

The way I read it, you need cc activity to waive monthly fee on biz checking account, but the offer seems open to all based on text on coupon itself.

Nice offer. I didn't recieve the email, and am wondering if anyone has tried to use it at a WaMu branch (no non-WaMu chase branches in eastern WA). Would appreciate a report back on this from anyone who can comment. TIA, and thanks OP.

Same here. WAMU-eligible? I'm in CA; no Chase branches local.

Hey OP, did you click on the "get my coupon now" link in the email? I'm guessing it generates a one-time use code that is tied to your CC account.

Did you read the email?

It says "visit your local Chase branch or call 1-800-CHASE24 to open your acct". Why don't you give that number a call and report back.

The link generates a unique code every one you flash the link. You just bring the print out to a branch to open a new business account (or call the number).

I did this last October. I went to a branch with the printout last time. Chase wanted to verify that I really had a business. So, I had to make a second trip and had to show them my 2007 tax return with schedule C (they did not make copy of my tax return). You cannot fund the account with a credit credit on branch. The bonus got deposited very very quickly (within days of initial deposit).

OK, I'm in WA state also. I just called the number and CSR said for WA residents (and I would assume CA residents also if they don't have a local Chase branch) we need to open the acct at www.chase.com. Apparently there is a place on the application to enter a coupon code.

Update: I tried to open an acct online and got the error message "service not available for zip code you entered". Called Chase again. CSR says, "you can't open a business checking acct with Chase in WA state yet because WaMu is not fully integrated into Chase".

That was a fun mini-wild turkey chase. Get it? wild turkey Chase?

Oh man, I crack myself up.

Anyway, thanks OP, its a great deal for those that can get it.

The link will generate a different code every time you click, just like mimi6789 said. Thank you mimi6789 for sharing your experience.

Of course I read the email
I wanted to visit the branch and deposit the $500 in cash.

How would one deposit the $500 if you call to open the account?
Can they do debit car?

Well maybe they can get their act together by, oh, say . . . March 28, 2009? Great find OP. Green.

They send you a signature card which must be signed and returned along with the $500 opening deposit. It can be returned by mail, or you can drop it off at any Chase branch office.

Do we need to bring them some paperwork about the business?
Can we open the account online?

thanks

Thanks for checking IamN41.

I didn't get the email so couldn't read it, but the QS says "branch only", which is what I was assuming was corrected. Perhaps someone with the full email (the number isn't in the OP as of now) could correct the QS.

I posted a screenshot of the email.

Can someone generate multiple codes and post them in the quicksummary for people to use, so users without the email can use them.

Why don't you just click on the link I provided? It will work.

Anyway, I posted some codes from 2 different emails that was sent to me (I have 2 Chase biz CC)

I am going to visit a branch and open an account tomorrow.

missed that, thanks.

Im going to try this, doing the phonein app. Chase only has private bank offices in CA

Edit: Sorry, got distracted for a few minutes before hitting the post button.

Thanks OP.

Am I reading this correctly, for the Chase Business Classic Checking, monthly fees are $54:

Check Safekeeping $16
Image Statement $18
Check Return $20

Thanks! Easy $200.

Those are 3 different fee tiers, depending on how you want them to handle your checks that post to the account. And the fee is waived, if linked to a biz credit card that has a balance at any time during the statement period.

called in to see what requirements were needed if opened over the phone and told would need to fax or send a copy of DBA Certificate and fed-id tax number. i opened the business card as a sole proprietership (as part of an AOR), so that makes the fed tax id my SSN. i have no idea if a DBA is required on a sole proprietership as well (he was reading the general instructions, not based on type of business). someone may want to call and double-check the answers.

might have to pay to get a DBA certificate for this deal to work.

I had a different experience. I was told that since there are no Chase branches within 50 miles of my address, I could not open the account over the phone and would have to open it online (which the coupn code is not valid for).

I opened mine today in Boulder, Co. This is the second time I've opened a biz checking for $200. They did require me to get a DBA certificate however (they didn't last year). They pretty much did it for me in the branch and cost me $20. I also had to open a checking account and fund it with $25. I was told that there are NO FEES FOR THREE MONTHS, but then after that, it is $12 a month unless I have a minimum balance of $4,000 in the checking account or opened (or link an existing) business credit card.

They also gave me 4 referral codes which gives both people $25. PM me if you want one and WILL USE IT.

Thanks OP!

to clarify, i live within 50 miles of a branch, and the guy did ask on that before we got into details, so maybe SOL if living far from a branch.

did a little more research, and not sure a DMA is necessarily required, assuming your business address is the same as your name and being a SP. seems the DMA may be for Chase to have a valid doc so they can print up the checks (which shouldn't be an issue, if using it's your own name?). i'll probably call back later or call my local branch to see as a "consultant" whether they're going to require one, considering they already issues me a business card (in my name).

Are you using your own name and own SSN as a sole proprietership? If not, I could probably see a required DBA certificate from Chase.

I always have this DBA issue. Sometimes if I say my business name is "Law offices of SIS" they want a DBA. But if I say "SIS, Attorney at Law" its OK without one.

In some states, just using your last name as part of the company name is OK- so if your name is John Smith and your company is "Smith Electrical" that is ok, sometimes it needs to be "John Smith Electrical" etc.

And some clueless bank reps demand DBA even if your business name is only your personal name.

torchedlh, did you close your first biz checking before opening the second one? Thanks

I just got back from the branch.

I needed to make a fictitious company name from the country clerk, cost me $10
You need to keep a balance one time for every month.

and I was told that I am approved for another credit card when opening the account with $6k CL, with $50 after first purchase.

Does anyone know how long do we need the account open?
I asked the banker, and she was trying to look for it in the printout, but no mention of it. So she just told me one year.

Can anyone confirm this?

Thanks

I tried to simply use my name and SSN but they wouldn't allow it. Like I said, they let me do it last time however.

I had actually closed the account last summer due to the monthly service charges.

hard or soft pull??

Crap - thanks for telling me this - I was going to drive 50 miles to the nearest branch in Covina, but it's probably not a branch. Looks like I'll have to drop in to my local Chase branch when I'm on business in Arizona.

The online app was not working yesterday.

Just want to report back that the $200 was just posted to my account.

I opened the account on 2/3/2009 and the bonus was posted on 2/10/2009

but, the mysterious credit card that was offered to me is not here yet, and better, I talked to a Chase credit analyst (was opening a new cc) and I asked about this mysterious cc, she said she is not seeing anything about a recently opened credit card.

I'm also reporting that I received my $200 bonus today, 8 days after opening the account. I've opened a lot of accounts for free money and Chase is BY FAR the most painless and quickest to deliver the goods.

I'd never open a business credit with a bogus business. For example, if you can conceive of selling items on eBay, that's hardly a bogus business. Naturally, I'd declare the income for any such activities. When I opened a Chase business checking account back in February, I did so under my own name, thereby ignoring the hassles of filing a DBA-type of form with the appropriate city or county agency. I've done the same thing with a variety of different business credit cards, and have never had any issues.

I opened the Chase business CC using my name as the name of the "business" and got approved without issue. Will there be any problem if I do the same to open the business checking account? My concern is they will report the $200 bonus as interest income the IRS and tell them I have a "business".

As long as you're using your SSN for your business, I can't see an issue with Chase reporting your opening bonus. You'll probably receive a 1099-INT; the bonus would be considered interest income, just like account opening bonuses from your personal accounts.
