Other wise you will get stuck carrying that purchase the entire 21 months, with interest if they are charging that.
The offer did not say what your normal interest will be.
Tricky little item they threw in.

As I understand it this is no longer the case, that under the new laws the credit card company has to apply any payment above the minimum to the HIGHEST interest balance.

agree. I just got this confirmed by discover.

I got this offer as well. Unfortunately I can't use it because I need to cancel the card before the annual fee is due in January.

That's a good one.

Anyone with AARP get this?

rated:

Got another good one from Chase. Slate Visa - 0% APR on purchases & BT through Feb 2013. No fees on BTs done during first 30 days. I was just waiting to get the 2nd Chase AARP app for household. Now, I might have to do the Slate & AARP together.

Hoping to get some offers in soon, but thanks for the heads up. I tried that one lifehacker tip on haggling with customer rep before agreeing to a CC, and they shot me down faster than Han did Greedo. So just patiently waiting.

for current cardholders....short of cancelling the current card and reapplying (thus hurting credit report with lower ave account age), is anyone going to try and get this offer for their current card?

Let me see if I understand this. We sign up for credit card for 0% balance transfers for ~12 months. We write a check to ourselves and invest the balance transfer into ,for example, a money market account and after 12 months of gaining interest we pay off the credit card. Am I sort of getting it?
Lets say a credit card has a balance transfer fee of 4%. Would that mean I would have to try to invest the money in something that yields 4% interest to break even? Nothing out there right now gives 4% interest. How is it we make money off these offers?

Simple economics, if you can not earn more money by "whatever means" to cover the fee, then it's not worth it.

I don't know how often it exists these days, but people try to wait for 0% fee and/or a cap on the BT fee. These might be a way of the past but it also might be targeted.

rated:

My Coast 2 Coast visa has a decent 0% offer w/ 2% BT fee. Hell, their old BT offer was a capped fee of $75. So, to move 5k, its costing me $100.

Targeted: Received a mailer/email directly to me for my specific account about a specific offer.

What does targeted mean?
Only meant for the person that received it -- not a general offer for everyone

Looks like Citi will be raising the BT fee
Offer 1 - 0% til Dec 2012, 3% fee
Offer 2 - 0% til Jan 2013, 5% fee

Chase Slate card is offering a 0% 12 months BT, with no fee if transfered within the first 30 days of account opening...

Chase Slate Application

rated:

I have also been getting a bunch of Discover 12 0 0 offers, but I do not like the 11.99 hangover, but I just got a random

5.99 fixed for life on balance transfers (with a 3% up front fee) 0% on purchases for 12 months
and a specific "no penalty apr clause for the fixed rate balance transfers" (I have never seen this before, and I have read lots of these agreements)

somehow this sounds like 2008, but I have 8k at 9.75% and 12k at 7.64% variable so this sounds like it might be a good deal over time. ?

I have 3 Chase cards each for DW and me and we each have a Chase Slate. What are Chase's limits and will they decline if I already have a Slate?
