I was told that the "Bonus was canceled because I received a $75.00 bonus in january 2008" and apparently BOA(Like Citibank)only pays one incentive per customer. I looked at the fine print on the application and did not see this limitation stated with the disclosures and conditions. I will simply transfer all my money out and close the accounts.....not worth more phone calls and arguments to get the $50.00 IMO.

Fine print of this offer says "Limit one $50 incentive per household every 6 months."

Exactly! I was told the account I opened in January 2008(17 months ago & 14 months before I opened the new account)disqualified for the incentive bonus.

Data Point - I opened my account on April 4th and got my bonus a few days ago.

if that is what the offers says, then he shouldn't blame BOA if he doesn't bother to read the fine print....

i got a bonus for opening My Access Checking SEVERAL TIMES within the last two years....mostly because i wavered back and forth as to whether i wanted to keep them as my local banking account...and i got the bonus every time i applied for a new one.....

ultimately, i decided it was quite advantageous to have them for my local banking account (because of their convenient vastness of locations around my local area and the country, nice online banking and very good customer service)....and have been with them ever since....

Do we have any data points on how to avoid a hard pull?

Huh - this prompted me to look, and my $50 bonus posted on 6/22. I opened the account on 3/20, so they were four days past their revised 90-day time frame!

I wonder if they had some sort of IT problem and finally ran the bonuses in a huge batch.

Fine print of this offer says "Limit one $50 incentive per household every 6 months."

It says "one $50 incentive". The other bonus he got was $75, not $50 (and the terms of the $75 bonus I'm aware of have similar language, "one $75 incentive"). So I would think that a $75 bonus shouldn't disqualify you from getting the $50 bonus. Has anyone really had BofA deny a bonus in this situation, and has anyone argued with them about it?

Also, does anyone know how they define "household"? Would they say a roommate at the same address (but not in the same family) is in the same household and deny a bonus if both roommates tried to get it?

I opened my account on 3/23 and had not received my bonus as of 6/25. I sent an email inquiry to see what gives and got this in return:

"We understand your concerns regarding the promotional incentive of
$50.00 to your account. We see the redemption order entered date was
4/2/09 and you will receive the same by 7/1/09."

I just closed my BofA account today. Having received the bonus, there was no reason to leave it open. They continued with the same level of incompetence they displayed since I opened the account: the teller said there was no way that she could give me a receipt for the closing withdrawal, and suggested I take the account closing checklist (a list of instructions for her to follow) as the receipt.

I'm so glad to be done with these losers. I don't mean to sound ungracious about $50, but the hassle of dealing with the worst bank in the country just wasn't worth it. There's no way I'm going to deal with BofA again unless the bonus was >$200.

Opened checking account 3/20/2009.
$50 bonus received 6/22/2009.

No reminder email to them was necessary.
This is the first time I have ever received a BAC bonus without multiple reminders.

I just got a letter that they denied to pay the bonus since I have another account.
I'm really upset since I got hard pull even I was logged into bankofamerica online when I applied.

Anyway is there anybody who got this bonus even you have multiple accounts?

Just wanted to add that this account is listed by BAC as a New York account. I live in Virginia, opened the account online, though. Therefore, the routing number is different from what our other BAC account uses. Learned the hard way.

Sounds like you just have crappy tellers. I haven't had a problem with either BoA location near my office with depositing bags of coins, rolled coins, SLR checks, regular checks, and closing accouns. Sorry to hear it.

I've been through multiple calls with national customer service and their privacy center, and all were completely incompetent. One CSR told me I would get a pack of sample checks. The next told me I wouldn't, and that there was no way I could find out the routing number for the account unless I purchased checks from the bank. The third told me that she could look up the routing number, and then gave me the wrong one!

When I called to make my privacy opt-outs, I asked to not receive marketing emails. The rep couldn't enter my email address into her system, saying that it was invalid. (I assume that this is because it had a subdomain on it: xyz@abc.def.com instead of xyz@def.com.) I told her I was getting marketing email from it, so it must be valid, but there was just nothing she could do.

Basically, everyone I dealt with throughout the entire process was incompetent.

In the past I have received sign-up bonuses from BoA even while having other active accounts. This is the first time I have been denied the bonus. Has anyone who has received the denial letter had any luck reversing this denial by emailing/calling CSR?

may be far too late to ask, but does anyone have the original screen shot of the offer before they modified it? Thanks!

No! I called several CSR's and even visited a local branch. I promptly closed my checking and money market accounts and also closed my BoA credit card........I am done with them.

How much time and effort is $50.00 worth? I could have been a very good customer for BOA, but their stubborn attitude and unwillingness to honor the promotion frustrated me to the point that I would have paid them $50.00 to resign as a customer. I realize that many on FW have had good experiences with them........and I'm happy for them......but there are MANY better options for my business so why wait for someone in their company to demonstrate good customer service?

A while ago there was a 100$ bonus posted on www.CreditKarma.com

I used that offer back in 7/24, and they said the bonus was to be added in 90 days, so supposed to receive it around 10/24.

However, they did have a hard-pull on my credit history. I already had a credit card with them before opening that account, so I called and asked why was that. They mentioned they had to send me a new credit card as long as I was now a "customer" of theirs', and that this was a standard procedure they always follow. They did send me in new cards, and cancelled the old ones, in a weeks time. My credit reports show that my older account is still active, not like they closed and opened a new one, which kept me happy so as not to screw my credit score up. I went back and read the fine print about that and couldn't find anything regarding having to have a "new" credit card number, as they mentioned.

Has anyone else experienced such a thing? Can someone explain why that was?

Thanks!!
