I agree with CM since there is no exclusion factor for "existing customers" in the fine print, we should have a leg to stand on. I printed out the offer (3 pages in all) and filed it in my BOA folder to use as ammunition if they deny the $50. PS: Is this offer related to some mortgage loan offer? What is all that mumbo jumbo in the fine print? Also, for exisitng customers who used their (already existing) online BOA login, did it fill in your Employer info with some other company name? BOA has my place on employment on file, yet for this application (even after signing in with my existing ID) it filled some other company name for me. I left it as is before submitting the app. Just wondering. |

1 MyAccess Checking® has no monthly maintenance fee when opened online with Offer Code Group50. MyAccess Checking® is also free with a qualified monthly direct deposit. Other account related service fees still apply. Offer may be withdrawn or modified at any time. that to me says unless you want to incur fee's you have to do a direct deposit... can someone confirm or deny?

What's the best way to close this account? From the BOA website it says to send a signed letter, but they never sent me a signature card even though I called to request one. TIA |

I received a hard pull (Experian also) when I opened a checking account at the end of 2007. I saw a comment in another thread that BOA does not do a hard pull on existing customers. Any current customers get a hard pull? |

Its in the branch too... but requires electronic deposits (i.e. paypal) <rant> btw, dont' do it at the branch. I only did it to help out a friends sister who works there. Someone was opening else opened a account and it was PAINFUL. a 15 minute process took 50 minutes. Plus, my checking was linked properlly to by online account (which I have a credit card) so I had to call customer care to fix it. I wonder why and how the need for physical branch exists when online is much better. </rant> |

BoA CSR's often give bad info in my experience. I've done this exact promo before (same promo code and terms) and received the bonus even though I already had several checking accounts with them. Just make pdf's of the promo page (and even the application if you want to be extra safe) and make sure that if it isn't credit within 50 days you call them up on day 51 and tell them that you met the conditions and you have the documentation to prove it. Thanks. I signed up for it and made screenshots of everything. I will close this account right after I get my bonus because I have another checking account from Bank of America. Are there benefits to keeping this open? |

that to me says unless you want to incur fee's you have to do a direct deposit... can someone confirm or deny? No, the account is free per the promo code Group50. If you dont use that code, the monthly fee can also be waived with direct deposit. However, this account also has an ongoing promo that waives the fee if opened online. |

The fine print (located as a link on aplication form) i read says no fees for this particular account IF open (online) account from a state (that you live in) that doesn't have a physical bank. Not clear if you still are required to have a 25 balance. |

there are no fees or direct deposit requirement for accounts open with Group50.....in fact, in most instances, opening Myaccess Checking online never has a direct deposit requirement...only when you open in-branch....has nothing to do with whether you have local branches or not.... |

The KTC program work with savings transfer too, right? Can anyone please explain how this works to maximize $250 bonus annually? It says the program will match 100% the first 3 months and 5% annually thereafter. I am getting confused. turrdog said:Don't forget the $250 added bonus with the KTC program. Paying $1.01 at a time to my cable company still works and the torture of having to do it over 250 times is a small price to pay...
It says in the terms that a savings account should be opened as well. Does anyone know if having a savings account already satisfies that requirement?

She had a credit card account from FIA Card Services, which now belongs to BoA. Other than that, she had no prior banking relationship with BoA - it was her first checking account with them. |

It does say 'no direct deposit required'. But I am going to call because that may mean "no direct deposit required" to receive the $50. It may NOT mean you aren't going to have service fees without a direct deposit because I believe their checking accounts require a direct deposit in order to avoid service fees. The service fees would eat up the $50 in a hurry. |

And even when someone has the DD required version of the account...any ACH push in to it each month (from an outside bank)fulfills the requirement (not official BOA policy...but it works...lol).... |

I left my account open with zero balance (without direct deposit and there was never a fee) and about a year later they just closed it without me requesting them to do so. |

Man, I just opened one of these to replace my BofA account which did require direct deposit. But, if I didn't have that fraud alert on my credit report, I'd open another one! |
