From their signup page:

10. You will receive your $50 credit to your new account within 50 days of opening your new personal checking account online.

That doesn't make any sense for them to claim their standard time is 90 days when this offer specifically stated 50 days. I have a copy of it that I printed out & I will definately be in the branch a block from my office when my $50 bonus is not there in 50 days.

I know! I even told them they were still advertising that it is 50 day and read the terms to them. I'm going to keep the account anyway so I'll get the money eventually, but if I were to do the same thing to BofA, they'd hit me with a $35 NSF charge, plus a bi-weekly overdraft fee. Perhaps I'll send them my bill

Does BofA send out any sort of notice that you've qualified/meet the conditions for the $50 bonus? For example, when I opened an ING Sharebuilder account w/ Costco bonus code and made my first trade I got an email saying I'd meet the conditions for the sign-up bonus and would be receiving the $$ shortly.

No.

The summary asks people to confirm whether they saw a hard pull. I applied, and mysteriously had TWO hard pulls.

My TU report shows BofA in Charlotte, NC did a hard pull on 3/20. Then BofA in St. Louis, MO did a hard pull on 3/21. I just applied for the one account for this promotion, no frills, no other activity or relationship with BofA.

Dealing with BofA has been such a pain. Dealing with them is so not worth the $50 I'm supposedly going to get.

I'm going to keep the account anyway so I'll get the money eventually...I passed the 50-day mark this past weekend with no $50.00 credit applied. After a couple of calls to customer service and a stop at the branch (where I was treated very rudely), all telling me I would have to wait 90 days instead of 50, I wrote a detailed email to the branch manager expressing my unhappiness with BofA reneging on their offer. I haven't gotten a reply or explanation yet, but my account was just credited with the $50.00.

Don't let businesses get away with pulling this kind of crap! Keep on them until they do what they promised they would. The squeaky wheel DOES get oiled if it squeaks loud and long enough.

I wanted to mention that I also had 2 hard pulls from them.

It has been 8 weeks (56 days) and no bonus in the account yet. Time to ping BofA?

I recently received a letter from BofA, denying me the $50 bonus, b/c "multiple checking accounts are not eligible for this offer". I already had an individual checking account when I signed up for an additional JT account for the bonus offer.

I found the T&C for this offer and it only limits you to one bonus each 6 mos per household, but haven't taken the time yet to fight with them about this.

I've been thru this before with BofA -- so tiring.

I just got a notice from BofA that starting June 1, the monthly service fee on a MyAccess checking account is being raised from $5.95 to 8.95 per month. There were no words about it being waived for accounts opened online, so I went over today and withdrew my $75.00 ($25.00 initial deposit plus $50.00 bonus). I'll stick with my totally free WaMU (now Chase) checking account.

If you opened online with the offering that the account had no DD requirement or minimum balance to maintain, then you are NOT affected by the change at all...it specifically mentions that in the brochure accompanying your latest checking statement....

So, if that were the case...you just closed the account without needing to......suggest you read the fine print more carefully next time....
Here is what it says:

Note: This charge applies to you if you currently pay a Monthly Maintenance Fee for statement cycles when we do not receive a qualifying direct deposit

That is typed in word for word...

So, if you didn't have the DD requirement then you were not affected by it....

I don't know why some here seem to have such a problem grasping this....

The online T/C for a MyAccess checking account makes no exception for the account having been opened online or not previously having a maintenance fee. BofA refused to pay the bonus within 50 days, saying they changed it to 90 days as allowed by "Offer may be withdrawn or modified at any time without notice." After finally getting the bonus, I'm not about to take a chance on BofA reneging on another aspect of the T/C, so I withdrew all the funds (I did not close the account as there is no minimum balance required - unless BofA decides to modify that clause without notice also).

Any bank can change it's rules at any time...even the supposed WAMU free Checking staying that way after it's full Chase conversion....just because Chase promises that now..doesn't mean it can't change it's mind in the future...so if you think Chase always acts in a more "fair way" then BOA...you might want to reflect on that thought....and ask those (including myself) who will be losing most of our 5% and 3% cash rewards benefits on our Chase Credit Cards shortly....

In the case of BOA changing it's exemption on DD and Maintenance Requirement on MY Access Checking accounts opened online, the possibility is less likely as it is profitable to them to have as many of these accounts opened online as possible, instead of in-branch as it helps them save personnel time and money.....

That phone number seems to only support CA, WA, and ID accounts.

My bonus hasn't shown up either (big surprise). Does anyone happen to know whom to contact about an IL account?

Login to your online account, click on help or I think it says customer service, find the toll free number to call. If they can't help, ask for a number to someone who can.

This is what I plan on doing later today, will post back.

ETA: Contacted BOA thru the customer chat feature now after logging into my account. I was told my account was reviewed and that the $50 bonus will be there on 7/1, asked why it takes so long when the promo said it would only take 50 days. I got the usual it takes 90 days for promotion to post to the account (left hand not knowing what right hand is doing, marketing guys write it up, promotion department award it on their own schedule, hilarious)

Anyway if anyone needs this:
BOA Contact Info:
1.800.432.1000 (all states except CA)
1.800.622.8731 (CA)
Monday - Friday 7 a.m. to 10 p.m.
Saturday & Sunday 8 a.m. to 5 p.m

Or use the customer service chat feature so you have written confirmation that your account qualifies for the promo in case you need this proof later.

I also confirmed that even though the new fees schedule was sent to all customers (along with their statements), those who opened the account online will NOT be assessed any fees.

I'm just going to leave the account as is with the $25 in it, and wait till 7/1 for the $50 to post, there is no fees to worry about so I will wait it out, my time is precious, not going to waste it fighting with them to get the promo right now instead of 7/1. This is just my decision, each of you should do what you think is best for you.

LOL! I tried that, the CSR knew nothing, and suggested I visit my local branch for more details. As if they would know any more.

Maybe it's just me, but I've had consistently poor, even useless, service from BofA customer service. That's why I was hoping for a number to a more useful department.

I received exactly the same advise from a CSR and will actually follow it. BofA modified the original offer and seems like they replaced it in their systems so I assume the money will show up after 90 days or it will take a fight to get it now.
