I got a letter from Chase today (attached) saying that they'll send me an invitation to upgrade my Chase Freedom card to a new Chase Sapphire card.
If anyone has any advance information about this card beyond what's in the letter, I'd love to hear it.

The letter seems contradictory. In the first paragraph the offer is made. In the last paragraph the offer is made conditionally and to be delivered in the future.

As long as you don't screw-up from the invitation date to acceptance date, you'll be accepted for a Sapphire card.
Someone posted on another board that they received a letter in the mail saying that the Freedom card will no longer offer 3% on top 3 (or 5) categories starting 6/30, so perhaps this is a replacement to the Freedom program for qualified cardmembers only?
But given the recent downgrading everywhere, it is really hard for me to believe that Chase is offering any meaningful "upgrade". It's probably anything but.
I got this as well. I actually set this letter aside instead of throwing it into the recycle pile because I wanted to research this. If anything, it's classy marketing.

I got that letter today. Also, the $50 bonus when redeeming $200 in CB Rewards will no longer be available after 6/30. I guess I'm not a preferred customer.
"I got that letter today. Also, the $50 bonus when redeeming $200 in CB Rewards will no longer be available after 6/30. I guess I'm not a preferred customer." Is this for sure. I'm at 150 right now for my next one. I don't think I can rack up another 50 by 6/30. Any thoughts.
Just got off the phone with a customer service rep and she assured me that those two programs($50 bonus and top 3) will be in place long after 6/30 for me and other current holders. She further said that I would get a 2 month notice(which I haven't received) if that were ever to change.

Also, you can currently get Costco and/or WalMart cards for a slight discount on eBay, if you want to go the Microsoft CashBack route.
