"Save when you dine out. 5% CashBack Bonus at Restaurants
From fast food to fine dining, just pay using your Discover Card and earn 5% CashBack Bonus on up to $200 in restaurant purchases throughout the month of June."
Anyone else find it stupid that you have to explicitly sign up for these CashBack "offers". It should be automatic if you have the card and not require you to login and "sign up".

That's likely just Discover cheating you... they've done the same to me numerous times. I've had to call to get my CashBack, then they accuse me of using a coupon or a deal. In their view free shipping disqualifies the bonus.
Long story short... Discover spends most of its life in the sock drawer.

Anything over $400 earns 1%. They max you out on any of these "offers" at $20. Sucks when you travel a lot and can spend $3,000 on one trip alone. Would be nice to get 5% on the full amount. Shoot $400, barely gets you 2 nights in DC.

Anything over $400 earns 1%. As mentioned elsewhere, the max spending eligible for 5% is $200 (restaurants). Beyond that amount, depending on whether you have met the minimum tier limits or not , it is 1% (if met) or much less than 1% (if not met).

Woohoo, $10 in savings, here I come. Party time.
For the time it takes to sign up every month, then hunt down fine print on the limit and tracking to make sure you don't exceed it, it is not worth the effort. I'd rather put it into Chase Freedom 3%.
P.S. I am still bitter over AT&T Universal Card (Citi) closing my 5% TYP gravy train on groceries and gas. I've been milking it for many years and it finally came to an end last month. So, I am in search of the new reward point pyramid.
I was under the impression when I first got my Discover that it was 5% all the time on restaurants but it wasn't. As someone else pointed out, the CashBack merchants are hit or miss. Month before last I received CashBack from one merchant a couple of times, the next month, my purchases went un-noticed.
This offer may not be available to some Discover Card types. I have Discover Miles and it's not working for me: "You're not eligible to participate in the Get More program. To find out what other offers may be available to you, please call Customer Service at 1-800-DISCOVER (1-800-347-2683)."

Yeah but if you're like me, you have TY points up the wazoo but have trouble getting up to $20 to cash out discover CashBack.
So I'll put the discover card back in my wallet for june.

I've used the merchant CashBack several times using firefox and always seem to get it. I don't really know how to track it. I just see the bonus on the statement.
So to actually make this a better deal, does anyone know of a June promotion (nation wide) for extra $$$$ when buying a gift card? IE like T.G. I. F. or someone offering say $10.00 extra when you buy a $50.00 gift card?
I did this in December and it helped add up the Cash Back and it's always nice to be able to go to TGIF or somewhere and not have to actually PAY to eat. Last time I used my extra $20.00 a BOGO Entre' and .01 App, Got $36.00 worth of meals (which lasted 4 days) for NOTHING out of pocket. That was nice.
P.S. I DID tip in cash though.... On the entire bill before coupons....

I just signed up for mine and it is from june-july, but says it's only 2%(double). Fine print below.
Earn 2% CashBack Bonus on purchases made at restaurants from 6/1/09 (or the date on which you signed up, whichever is later) through 7/31/09, subject to a cap of $500 in purchases. These purchases must post to your account by 7/31/09. Restaurant purchases are those made at merchants we classify as full-service restaurants, cafes, cafeterias and fast food locations. Allow up to 5 weeks for this reward to be added to your CashBack Bonus account. You will continue to earn a full 5% CashBack Bonus on your first $100 in combined gas and auto maintenance purchases each billing period and unlimited CashBack Bonus of up to 1% on all other purchases. Only Discover Open Road Cardmembers are eligible to participate in this program. See CashBack Bonus Program Terms and Conditions for further details.

Because Discover's goal is not to hand out cash to everyone, but to get more people to use their card. To do this, they need to periodically poke everyone with "hey, remember, you have our card, put it in your wallet now so you get a few extra bucks in rewards next month".

Is there any way to tell which purchases get what % of Cash Back? I've been curious with my discover and my AMEX card too. No way to tell if the store you shop at give you a higher Cash Back?

Word. The only good my Discover card is for is to collect dust in my wallet. So many crazy tiers and stipulations. Occasional gas bonus is nice, but that only leaves it to be used maybe $200 the whole year.
My first month with the Forward, got both More and Forward, I'm already $500+ with the Forward

I have a "CashBack Bonus" Discover card. Will this promo work for this card? I'd rather not create an account to find this out. Thanks in advance.

Anybody know how to find out where your rewards are coming from? I get an updated total of my rewards on each statement, but I can't figure out which merchants and purchases are generating these rewards. ??

I had a something strange happen to me last night. I went out for dinner with my wife. I asked the restaurant if they take Discover, and they said yes, but only certain numbers?
When she went to ring up the purchase, she came back and said sorry, this number won't go through, do you have another card? My wife handed her, her Discover card, (same account, she is an AU). The waitress came back and said sorry, this is the same account, this number won't go through, so I handed her my Citibank Proff. card, and that went through.
I've never heard of this before, "We only take certain Discover cards". Do merchants have to pay a higher fee on Discover "ca$h back cards"? I hear that for Visa and MC, the merchant fees are higher, and I'm wondering if the merchant can tell if a Discover card will resuly in a higher fee, so they don't accept them?
