Hi,

I searched and didnt find any thread so tho't of posting this. I was referred by a friend to open a Virtual Bank eMoney Market A/c and I got $20 bonus for making $100 as the first deposit. Referral policy is here. eMoney Market rates as high as 2.02% APY sounded attractive when compared to a savings a/c so thought I'd give it a try! So if you guys know anyone having a Virtual Bank a/c send them your email address and your full (real) name and ask them to refer you - both of you will get $20 bonus
Update - Online signup needs a Driving License as proof.

Appears to be a quick and painless $20...except for the 10 business day hold.

I've had an account at Virtual Bank for several years, but their rates aren't that competitive these days. You have to maintain over $100k to get the 2%. That said, I'm all for taking advantage of the free money offers!

site's dead? can't load the website.

Link for site application page

Please note that this won't get you the $20 bonus. You have to receive an invitation from a member.

No its still here

Triple post...sorry

Acc to FW policy, you are not allowed to ask/give for referrals on the forums. You could send a PM to someone if you want a referral.

Sandeep: Sorry I am new here, didn't know that. Also sorry for the triple post... don't know how that happened

Thanks for the referral

anyone having problems with their web form? in particular, it won't let me enter my birthday.

edit: i can enter the month fine. but when i try to enter the day (double-digit for me), the number will show up and then disappear.

It's in the format: MM/DD/YYYY

I called Customer Service, they had IE8 issues. You can workaround it by selecting "Compatibility Mode" under "Tools" in the menu bar.

I signed up. After I am done the verification process (probably after a week), I'm open to taking referral requests. Of course, after sandeep maxes out

I have them if anyone is interested, PM me.

soft or hard credit pull?
Anyone know?

Yep, was just about to post the same thing.

Wonder why MS doesnt include backward compatibility in their newer s/w. Ask Mozilla Firefox and they'll tell you how easy it is!!

I'll take a referral if anyone can PM it to me.

Thanks!

Just an FYI, the last time I checked, the referrer needs to use the referee's real first and last name in order to send the referral.

I think you are right! First name, last name and email id are needed.

Just about to fax in my drivers license as ID proof when I get another email saying I've failed their ChexSystems approval... anyone else experience this?

I never needed to send them anything and I opened and funded the a/c completely online! I think many a times, when you move your address ChexSystems dont update it too soon. So why dont you check if its the old address that Chex validates.

Thanks for sharing your experience. I find this very curious...maybe they're more strict now with folks signing up en masse for the $20 bonus? I requested a ChexSystems report to see exactly what's going on. My credit history is pretty solid, in fact, I just applied and got approved for a new Citibank card, so it makes the situation even more bizarre

Definitely not a hard pull. The process was easy. Just got my $20 deposited. Referred my wife and hope to get bonus (2*20) soon.

PM me for a referral with your full name.

Got it, thanks OP. If anyone needs a link, PM me.

You are right - even I noticed that the real full name is required. Updated the original posting!

I've had an account for several years.

2 things to note:

  • It's nice that you are assigned a personal banker you can call - their name and number appears in the top right corner after logging into your account.
  • To add or delete linked accounts AFTER the initial setup requires mailing in a form + a voided check if adding.

I'm open to PMs.

Thank heavens atleast the first a/c setup was online and didnt require any mail-ins.

started getting some referral bonuses credited to my a/c That was quick!

Thanks for the great find OP! Now all I need is a PM and I'll be on my way to fame and fortune. Well, fortune anyway.

update - online opening of the a/c needs driver's license

Some fine print and fees I noticed:
The $20.00 will not be available for withdrawal for 30 days and will be reported as interest on your 1099INT.
Close-out in first 90 days fee: $50.00
Inactive account fee (more than 12 months inactive): $5.00 per statement cycle

So I guess I'll close the account between 90 days and 12 months to avoid any fees.

But the best part is that all those $20 referral bonuses you get when your friends have opened their accounts are available for withdrawal the same day

How long did it take for you guys to get your accounts opened (number of business days)? My account is still pending. Thanks.

sandeeppotdar said: Did any one of you get the 1090-INT annual statements? Do these referral bonuses get shown as "Interest"? I have earned around $200 from this deal this year so curious to know!
I had the account last year and yes, it counted as taxable on a 1099-INT.
