Our 1099 lists all the interest we gain on all our accounts.
My interest from Irwin UB should be only $120.71. I'll sure check to see if they add anything for the TV. If they do, "that's life".
Uncle Sam always gets his due and usually a little more....patty, I was responding to shallot's question.
I was not complaining. I have no problem reporting $280 interest for the LG tv.

Yes I did, CSR told me that there is no penalty. I am trying to see the experience of others who have already closed their checking account.

I closed my CD today after talking to the CSR, there was no penalty and the funds will be transfered to the initial funding account, CSR had no issue and was very willing to close it, now i just need to wait for the funds to show up on my savings account.

Here is a clear answer for the checking account holders -
Dear carefreeninja,

Yes, we can close your account without penalty. Please confirm the original funding information so we can ACH the funds back to you.

If you would let me know the ABA number of the originating bank, if your account is a checking or savings account and also the account number, that would be great.

You can feel free to send that through this email venue because the online email is secure.

Spoke to Debbie today, We can close the checking accounts without any penalties. I closed the account and funds will be ACH'ed to the source bank account.

I spoke with Debbie also. I also was able to keep my TV and close my checking account without penalty. Funds will go back to source bank.

May I know what number you called? I used the online messages, but was told I need to go to the branch to close it. The closest branch is one hour away.

give them a call and they will tell u it's penalty free and the fund would go back via ach to the funding source. u can also transfer the fund out first then call. same thing. i did that way...

I sent them an online message and a/c was close (without penalty) and money ach'ed to funding a/c. Took a few days to respond but it was very smooth.

Me too except Debbie responded very quickly (within 24 hours after I sent the online message).
