Associated Bank 5% Card Questions

I was approved for, and received, an Associated Bank Cash Rebate card (5% on EDP). I just logged on to the website and noticed that my card now appears as a Associated Bank Visa Platinum card. Unfortunately, I cannot find out the rewards details for this card. Does anyone know whether or not this card will have the same rewards structure as the cash rebate card? I could call and ask, but I generally do not like dealing with CSRs. Thanks in advance.

if you applied for the Cash Rebate Card and your card says Cash Rebate on it, you will indeed get the 5% on gas/grocery/drug stores....When i log in to the website, it also says Platinum Card on mine as well....it doesn't have any effect on it....

Excellent, thanks. I appreciate the information.

you're very welcome

when your first statement is generated, you will see a listing for the rewards points and easily be able to tell that you got much more then the standard 1%...i noticed that right away....

Try calling, keeping it as brief and to the point as possible to minimize any bad experience.

Looking at the statement is the only sure way to know what you are getting. I asked for the 5% EDP card but got no rewards at all initially. A supervisor said she took care
of the problem but all I got then was 1%. Hopefully that's now fixed but am still awaiting confirmation via small test purchases. If you have other cards that have larger rewards, I wouldn't put a whole lot on this card until you see some confirmation on your statements. Mine is labeled Platinum....apparently they can code the rewards differently via computer regardless of the name on the card.

The customer service person may get confused and tell you that you have the platinum card...not only is it listed that way when you check into your account, but it even says that on the statement as well...you have to see how many actual "cash dollars" you get on the statement...

For example...i spent about $186 last month and most of the purchases were supermarket and drug store related....i didn't get $1.86 in cash dollars..i got about $7.80 in cash dollars...which obviously meant it was getting 5% on those catagories.....

OP, how did you apply for the card in the first place. Over the phone or in person at a branch? I know that the card isn't advertised online.

Guys; how hard is it to get this card? I tried to get the Chase Sapphire card, but was denied due to too many inquires. Then again, I was just approved for the PenFed Cash Back card. I called in and it is still processing. What are my chances in getting this card?

When I got my card in the mail, there was no literature about the rewards program. The card looked basically the same as the Platinum Card listed on Associated Bank's site. I called customer service to ask about my rewards, and she confirmed 1% back on all purchases plus 4% extra on EDP. Once I activated the card and removed the "Activate Now" sticker, I noticed the "Cash Rebates" written on the card.

I applied for the card over the phone. It was very easy. If I remember correctly, the application process was 100% automated. To be honest, I have no intention of using the card unless/until my Chase Cash Plus Rewards card gets demoted. However, since those cards are getting demoted with surprising frequency, I figured it would be prudent to get another 5% card just in case. (This is why I don't know whether or not I have the 5%, I've yet to make purchases of any significance.)

Dumb question that I could get an answer to by calling, but are the rewards capped?

yes...at $300 maximum per year.....

I came across a speculation that only residents from two states are eligible to get this card. Sounds odd, but still I wonder, what states do those of you recently approved for this card reside in?

TIA.

i don't believe that's true...i got it and i am in New York....nowhere near where the bank is actually located...anyway, the card is a branded card, and the credit lines, card servicing, getting rewards checks, even the website you get re-directed to when signing in at Associated Bank are all CITIBANK.....

Application process is a little annoying on this card online.

It also mentioned that users are required to call in and request your checks when you reach $50 in rewards level. Does this mean, there is no way to access your account information online at all if you are approved and receive the card?

I was hoping to get this as a back up to my Cash Rewards in case it gets changed or for when I hit the $300 limit.

no, you can access your card online, from the Associated Bank website....but it re-directs you to a special Citibank website from there...you will be able to view your transactions, statements, rewards cash....but yeah, as far as i know for the check you have to call when you reach at least $50.00....

In the Online website, it will list the card as a "Platinum Card" and that doesn't matter...as long as the actual card you receive in the mail says "Cash Rebate" on it....

which number or link to apply>

To all card members who have this card already- can you comment on how long it took after application to when you get it in the mail?

Also, what is the CSR number for this card? Thanks

Hi there,

I just applied for the Associated Bank 5%. When I called the customer service (which really is citibank folks), they said they saw no reward program I was enrolled in.

To make things worse, one agent said she saw I was enrolled in the Cash Rewards program but someone removed me from it. This is despite just applying and getting the card.

Could you comment on this from your experience? Thanks for helping a fellow mate out. cheers

Funny story on applying for this card which I recently did. Applied via phone and received an email a couple of days later asking me to call and verify some information. Called the number knowing that Citi handles the card administration, gave the rep the reference number, the rep pulls up the information and thanks me for applying for the "Associated Bank hilton Rewards Card" and says he has to verify some information. I say "Whoa, what did you say? I applied for the Associated Bank Cash Rewards Card." He repeats the "Associated Bank hilton Rewards Card." I ask him to tell me the T&Cs on the card. He pauses for a second and responds: "I have no information regarding what the card is. Do you want to proceed and verify your information." I go ahead with the verification. He says congratulations that I've been approved for the "Associated Bank hilton Rewards Card." Can't wait to see what card I actually receive in the mail...lol.

Just got my card in the mail a couple days ago. It says cash rewards on it, and when I created my account online it also mentions cash rewards. Hopefully I will be getting the 5% as indicated...

This post contains more information. It seems you can only apply by phone.

As long as the actual card has those words on it..you should be ok...just watch for your first statement and see if you get extra points on it....

Just received the card today. Can anyone who has one and uses Quicken, indicate how you set the card up within Quicken for transaction download? I've tried both as an Associated Bank as well as a Citi card and both didn't work. Thanks

Hi,

It seems I have to make a phone call to get a check.

Have anyone tried "View Current Rewards Details" from the account website? I was transferred to the third party website, TravelerMiles.com. Could I exchange my reward dollars on this website? Any information is appreciated. Thanks.

Why not just try e-mailing Customer Service after you sign in....and make the request that way....worse case scenario, they will tell you that you have to call.....

Let us know what they say when they respond....This card, it's credit line and customer servicing really belongs to Citibank...and they would be issuing the check on behalf of Associated Bank.....it's really just a question of whether they require a phone call to redeem or if they will do it on the basis of a secured e-mail to them....

In case the information is still useful to someone waiting for the card: I applied on Saturday and got the card in the mail the next Saturday, so it took a week. Customer service is shown as 1-800-219-7941.

Also, I was surprised by the 12K initial limit, which is high for me, more than double what I used to get in the bubble times.

Just got my first statement, definitely earning 5%.

FriendlyPeon said: Just got my first statement, definitely earning 5%.

However, no bonus points yet. Any idea how many statements it takes to get the 11,000 total bonus points?

Thanks.

They offered you 11,000 bonus points to open the Associated Bank Cash Rebate Card? I've never heard of such a offer.....

I think you're confusing this card with the Citi Forward card.

I think you're confusing this card with the Citi Forward card.

Ah, sorry - you're right, I signed up for both cards at the same time.

You are SOL. It used to work in Quicken, but Citicards shut the access off so no downloads for you. This is such an annoyance I'm considering ditching the card.

So does it make sense to charge the 5% purchases to the ABCR card until the envelope with the exciting news about good things coming arrives from the US Bank? Or are we better off moving the purchases to the surviving 3% Freedom? I am starting to need not a cardcardinsider but a crystal ball.

since the 5% program is still alive for now, why not continue to milk it?

You figure that they're going to issue new cards at that point. So you might as well get what you can on the old card either because (glass half full) the $300 limit will reset with the new card or (glass empty) there will be a crappy new program installed. I got lucky with the US Bank NWA Card when Delta merged. I received the sign up bonus with NWA, transfered them to Delta which was my plan all along (they even gave me some bonus miles for my time), and then when they issued the new Travel Perks card replacement I was offered the same no annual fee first year and free ticket with $5000 in purchase that anybody initially signing up for the card would receive. I was pretty happy with that, two free tickets and no annual fee for two years. Now hopefully I can stick that credit line on my Associated Bank card in a couple months. I do absolutely hate the US Bank website however (and it doesn't work with Yodlee).

You can use the website "secure email" to request a check. Mine just arrived and I requested it that way

Thanks for advice, mattun & busterbaxter. Funny thing is I only got the AB card a few weeks ago and was just starting to get used to the 5% milking idea. After all, it seemed like a comfortably long way to the $300 limit by the end of the year. Will keep at it!

Skipping 293 Messages...

Got a letter in the mail today offering a $25 Visa gift card if I use this card for 3 months of bill pay. Has an offer code so likely targeted. Seems like an easy $25 though.
