1Offer valid July 1, 2009 through December 31, 2009. To qualify for the reward you must open a new Chase CheckingSM account with a $100 minimum opening deposit of new money (money not currently held by Chase or its affiliates). Also, to qualify for the first 10,000 bonus miles you must make 5 debit card purchases with any Chase debit card linked or used to access the new account or initiate a repeating direct deposit such as payroll, Social Security or other government benefits. The 5 debit card purchases or first direct deposit must be completed within 60 days of account opening to earn the bonus miles. Initial 10,000 bonus miles will be deposited in your OnePassŪ account 6-10 weeks after the 5 debit card purchases or initial direct deposit has posted to the new account. Limit one personal checking account-related reward per customer, per calendar year. Limit one 10,000 bonus miles per checking account. Offer not available on account conversions or in combination with any other offer. Customers are still eligible for the first 10,000 miles even if they do not get the Chase Continental Airlines Preferred Debit Card. Account is subject to approval. Chase CheckingSM is available only at Chase branded branches, excluding branches in California.
2The second 15,000 bonus miles will be credited to the cardholder's OnePass account after the first qualifying purchase is made with your Chase Continental Airlines Preferred Debit Card or Chase Continental Airlines Debit Card. Please allow 6-10 weeks after your first qualifying purchase for bonus miles to post to your OnePass account. The first qualifying purchase must be made within the first 60 days in order to qualify for the bonus miles
P.S. You can try to combine this offer with $100/$125 bonus for opening a Chase Checking account. I did it last year with similar offer and got both bonuses. Although I had to call a couple of times to get 25K point credited, I finally got all of the points.
Edit: you can get an e-mail with $100 bonus coupon here: $100 bonus credit to Bankaholic

For those of us w/o Chase branches nearby, we're out of luck, right? From the language it looks like a branch visit is required but I'm wondering if anyone has contrary knowledge to that.
"Limit one personal checking account-related reward per customer, per calendar year."
From this I would gather that opening up an account earlier this year with a $150 bonus would disqualify me?

The Chase Continental Airlines Preferred Debit Card has an annual fee of $65 per checking account. If you choose the lower fee option of $25 with the Chase Continental Airlines Debit Card, you earn 1 mile for every $2 in qualifying purchases. Customers choosing the lower fee option will still receive the second 15,000 bonus miles after the first qualifying purchase.
Was anyone successful in getting this offer (Combining Continental Miles & 100 Bonus?)

I doubt that the Chase employee at the branch would look favorably upon using both coupons (if you even manage to get your hands on an original $100 coupon in the first place)... big YMMV.

I just opened such an account with them using the coupon link from continental website. This one is better. I got $125 for open account, instead of the initial 10000 miles, plus $65 for 11000 miles/2500 for my wife(authorized user). I paid $65 for 13500 miles. This offer is $25 for 15000 miles.

I got turned down at WAMU in California.
Rep pointed out this clause "Chase CheckingSM is available only at Chase branded branches, excluding branches in California." He tried punching in the numbers on my coupon but no go.
He said I should try again after the October 23rd conversion,

I guess I can not open account with this promotion because I did open one account per 21,000 mile promotion earlier this year. This bonus has a limit of one per year. I will try to open account for my 2 year old son to earn him 25,000 miles.

What are the chances of this working? If I open the Continental checking account in my name so as to get the miles and my wife opens the regular checking account so as to get the $125. Do yuo guys think this would work. We would obviously add each other to the accounts at a later date but to open them we would open them individually.

You're going to try to open a checking account for a 2 year old? I'm pretty sure a bank isn't going to open a checking account for someone who doesn't even have the ability to transact on it.

Can one also do the business account in addition to the personal one? Has that worked in the past?

Chase has 2 promotions going on: First, I see that JPM Chase has this offer: Textt. Coupon Code: could be unique per click. Expires: September 30, 2009. Get 10,000 bonus miles when you open a Chase Checking account and set up direct deposit. Get another 11,000 bonus miles and earn 1 mile for every $1 in qualifying purchases with the Chase Continental Airlines Preferred Debit Card for a $65 annual fee per checking account. Or, choose a lower annual fee option and earn 1 mile for every $2 in qualifying purchases with the Chase Continental Airlines Debit Card for a $25 annual fee per checking account. Check your first bag without ever paying a fee (a $30 round trip savings). Or, from another site: https://www.chase.com/ccp/index.jsp?pg_name=ccpmapp/shared/marketing/page/Continental_Consumer_9939 Offer valid July 1, 2009 through December 31, 2009. Coupon code: could be unique for each click.

Miles just posted from this promotion. Actually, only 45k miles posted (2x10k and 2x12.5k), but I haven't been charged the account fees yet, and so I'm thinking about closing the accounts to avoid the fees. Do you think my miles will be safe? Maybe I'll just cancel the debit cards that have the fees and leave the checking accounts open for another month or so.
I believe there is some sort of account closure fee if the account is closed within 6 months of opening.

has anyone tried this recently? I can't get any of the links to work. I can get to the page but when I click to print the coupon it says page not found.
Also I'm surprised this offer hasn't been getting more action. Isn't the checking fee free with 5 debit card purchase and no hard pull to open? $25 annual fee isn't much for 25K miles even if it is continental.

Yeah, I decided to just cancel the debit cards w/ the fees and get new debit cards w/ no fees. Hopefully this avoids any account closure fees and allows me to keep the miles.

I like this better than the cash offers because you don't get 1099s for miles.

The fine print has changed from what the OP has. You are now required to get the Preferred card ($65 fee). You don't have the option of "Chase Continental Airlines Preferred Debit Card or Chase Continental Airlines Debit Card".
Update: I was able to get Chase to open the account with the lower cost card since it is still mentioned in one of the sections of fine print. Initially, they tried to refuse since the coupon mentions the preferred card so prominently at the top.
Data point: can only fund accounts w/ CC if don't have any existing bank accounts w/ Chase.

can the direct deposit be from another checking account in a different bank?
I got a cash bonus (no miles) earlier this year from Chase but have since closed my account. Can I open a new account with this miles offer and still get it?
Damm: Limit one personal checking account-related reward per customer, per calendar year.
So I guess even though they are different awards I wouldnt qualify... And offer expires Dec 31st!
