I for one will strongly vote against make this sticky. Do you want more publicity? People need to learn how to do search and do their homework
I don't agree. It was a good idea to start the new thread after the newspaper article but it doesn't stop them from linking to this new thread. Threads with valuable information should be made sticky, you can always control access to sticky threads by giving access to registered members only.
The history button is only available to registered users, I believe. Which accomplishes the purpose of shielding the info from the casual browsing masses that would click the NYT link. If the info is not spoon-fed, nearly all will simply move on.
Personally, after judging from the comments I read in the NYTs piece, I wouldn't mind having some of those readers applying for these cards, maxing them out, and then spending the rest of their life subsidizing my lifestyle.
We might get new members and one may become active and provide better information. It will then disrupt the tenured positions of the experts of FWF.
Well, that wouldn't be the first thing I will give up and move on to greener pastures, leaving room for the newcomers.
Last week I gave up on Whole Foods. Plenty of people will migrate from Wal*Mart to take my place in the fanbase, and this is a good thing for the American economy.
Just an FYI on US Bank Baylor Alumni card: Applied and was initially rejected according to the online app. checker . Called, and talked to a nice rep. who approved me for $5,000. Called to activate the card, and asked for an increase for a BT. Answered 2 quick questions, and was bumped up to $10,000 (which I asked for). Not bad for a no-fee BT card.
Is anyone else having trouble consolidating their Citi accounts? I've done it before a few years ago.

From what I heard, their policy on reallocation/consolidcations have gotten stricter. However, I was able to reallocate back in March when I applied for a Citi Forward and I also had the "maximum allowed credit." Never heard of them doing that for you automatically though.
On a side note, anyone know if Citi has a limit on the amount of cards you can have? I have 5 (4 personal, 1 prof) with them so far. I might just apply with US Bank, but their cards look pretty ugly.

I have 10 cards with CITI right now(not yet heard about any limit), so you got some room.

I'm not really concerned with the limit, between the two cards it's ~$40k. Problem is only 8k is on the 0% offer card. Anyone else having trouble consolidated their credit lines? Could it be because one is an AMEX and the other is a mastercard?

Citi stopped allowing you to consolidate balances onto a card with an introductory 0% promo about a year or so ago.

I have migrated Citi balances the past year to take advantage of a 0% offer on a new card, I think about 4 months ago. The new card was about 5K and they let me move about 15K in other cards onto it.
They did say, however, that they would not transfer from a business line (secured by my personal credit) to a personal line. So I got hit by two $75 fees rather than one.

Two questions on Chase:
I have a 40K line on my one and only personal chase card with no balance. I used it a while ago to for a BT offer but it's now something like 14%.
Any chance I will be able to get convenience checks with a capped BT fee from Chase after migrating the 40K to a new card?
I read somewhere here about them reserving the right not to honor a conv. check within the credit line. Has this happened to anyone?

Thanks for the move SIS. With FW's increasing publicity to publications it will be tougher to keep good deals alive.

Well, not only is it true that Chase has reserved the right not to honor the checks, but now, many times, the CC doesn't even come with a convenience check, and when you call to request one, they say you have to wait like 3 months. In addition to that, currently Chase is NOT allowing limit consolidations on ANY of their credit cards, so if you apply for a new Chase CC, you won't be able to move that $40K over to it. Hope that helps.

SuperG03: Thanks for the response! I guess I could cancel the 40K card, then before it impacts my credit score apply right away and maybe they'll see I just had 40K open and deal.
I'll probably not do that though and just try BoA's NEA offer which seems really good. I've had a checking account with them forever and once had several credit cards, now I have none with them.

Really?? Which Citi Cards did you consolidate? Do anything special to get it done? Did you talk to normal customer service, a supervisor, cancellation department? Thanks.

Gar: In March of this year I consolidated a very old citi CC into a new professional card 12 month 0% balance transfer offer. I think I just called the regular 800 number on the back of the card shortly after getting it.

Thanks Hoop, I'll try again. No balances here either, I wonder if it's because it's an AMEX.

Yeah, I would definitely NOT close the $40K card. In this credit environment, getting a NEW approval for close to that limit seems near impossible, unless you have a ton of cash on hand with the bank or have extremely high HHI.
I like your idea about going for BoA's CC. Keep in mind, BoA = FIA card services, so you should be able to consolidate limits from any of the other CCs you have from FIA to the NEA CC. I believe BoA / FIA still allow limit consolidation, even to a CC w/ a 0% promo offer on it. Good Luck and let us know how it goes. Thanks.
I think the Citi Premiere Pass card offer may be expired. I applied over the weekend, and was approved, but this came in via email today:
Please note the following:
o We are unable to provide you with the promotional balance transfer Annual Percentage Rate as indicated on your solicitation. This is because you responded to an offer that had expired. Any balance transfers you may have requested with your application were not processed.
If you are still interested in transferring a balance, please call us at the toll-free number listed above.
Kind of annoying since the only reason I applied was to transfer a balance. Ugh.

Same issue here. I called the 800 number on the email, and was transfered to customer service, they indicated the new offer on the card was 0% for 6 months, with a 3% BT fee, no maximum. The rep indicated the 0% for 12 months with no fees expired on 8/29. I asked them if there was any way I could take advantage of the previous offer, and they submitted to a supervisor, and told me to call back in two days. Not too optimistic that it will come through, but its irritating since the only reason I applied for the card was the 12 month offer.
final plea, I put the time in, so I feel I got a say. The QS on this thread is out of date, and the format is so screwed up that I can't edit it anymore. The only cards on this list that are not on the other are a few US bank cards, and the extra barclays personal. The rest are all out of date. I'll continue to update the other thread, but this one is pointless and out of date now.
