That one is basically dead for all intents and purposes cause they're now forcing you to go into the Branch for a personal banker to upsell your EZ to add their rewards card program (NO THANKS). The $100 Bonus for a new Regular Citi Checking package goes through Sept. 30, 2009. No need for a referral from anyone...simply go to Citi's website and open an account online or even better yet, call their "new accounts" dept to open it up...that phone number can be found under "contact us" on their website. The phone rep allows you to set up ach initial funding from your supply bank on the spot; the online system wants you to mail in a check (NO THANKS). Soft pull as always and use promo code CE1Q. Avoid monthly service fees with DD or $6k balance. Do two free bill pays per month (as little as $10 per) for 3 consecutive months to validate $100 bonus. Last caveat is that $1,000 opening must be initiated at acct opening. Not the greatest bonus I've ever seen and is a moot point to 90% of goers as they already have a Citi checking collecting dormant dust somewhere...but for the noobs like me it's an okay little venture cause it's a 90 day sprint. They don't require a 6 or even 12 month term to validate the bonus or worse yet, match your termination fees with the amount of your bonus like the other Big 2 or 3 banks will pepper you.
