Added VXX at 18.9 earlier today JPM Short at 34.5 VXX is spiking. 21.xx now. tomorrow would be interesting
yeah.. i didn't think we'd roll over this quick, which makes me worry if we're going to have another bounce, but i'm going to take my chances now. market can't even string together 2 green days in a row.

Finacials rallying is most preplexing.
I don't remember who was talking about DRYS a while back, but randomly looking at it today, those January 2014 calls seem interesting. Doesn't seem to be a ton of premium for being so far out. Wish I knew more about it and may have to spend some time looking closer.
I just heard that Formula One (yes, the racing circuit) will IPO next month in Singapore. I guees I need to find the exchange and the ticker for it. Never owned an international stock, but I see more bang for the buck than FBook IPO (for example, they actually produce something (ENTERTAINMENT) AND make money doing it)!
Also, before someone panics and says "what happened to WDC?" (a stock on my watchlist):
Western Digital (WDC) announced that it is transferring its stock exchange listing to NASDAQ Global Select Market from the New York Stock Exchange. WD shares will begin trading on the NASDAQ exchange beginning June 1, 2012, and the ticker symbol will remain WDC.

So if you shorted @ $15.16 and it is now at $15.08...say you put $10k, isn't that only a $53 profit? Are you shorting many more shares or what? Are you real Homer Simpson Stock is down 12% right now. I expected it to go down 5-6% but not 12%.
Nevermind. went for Dell instead. looking for a small bounce in pre-market or start of trading. -12% seems like an overreaction. Dell - 06:04:21 Bought 1500s @ $13.30
corporateclaw said: Which BTW, if I had balls of steel, I'd be in at 13.30 to sell at open tomorrow.
Yeah, this seems like too much of a drop (for example it missed by 9 cents I think last quarter and fell 6% in trading). 13.30 seems like way too much. Even if 13.30 is correct, it won't open at 13.30.

Haha that was the funniest comment I had read on here in a while. That playboy model is from New Jersey, and her name was "jerseygirl" or something, and she had a Giant's jersey on...so when I asked her, it was because the name & picture correlated...her response caught me completely off guard.
And what made you expect it to go down 5-6%? I'm looking to dabble in some day trading for fun, and this thread has been a very informative.
Anybody have any books they'd recommend for a beginner? In my line of work, I've found myself with a good amount of insider information, that wouldn't quite be insider trading.

There's also Williams F1 team that's traded WGF1:GR (frankfurt?) Williams just started trading last year I think WGF1:GR and they recently lucked into a win, their first since 2004 or 2006? with Montoya. Their bloomberg info page seems outdated with some members who are now on other teams like Sam Michael. I looked a bit into CVC a few years ago as an F1 fan and very novice investor when it was announced that Texas would get a new F1 circuit and 10 year deal was announced. I think Calpers or something in CA is a big investor with CVC and they probably benefitted alot when Texas signed a 10 yr $30Million a year deal to hold the races. F1 added Korea(2 yrs ago), India (last year), Texas (this year), Russia (next year or so)and maybe New Jersey (soon) so there's plenty of future money coming in but there's still no Concorde agreement with all the racing team yet.

Apparently somebody at MS is pumping it -- which I guess means it's definitely going lower over the long term but I"m not sure what it means for the short term. Wish he'd done that on Friday before I sold, but I guess he was busy crapping himself over FB.

I think that is a really smart move right now. yeah, at the very least because Larry Page is 'talking' on Charlie Rose, haha! I think he's perpetually stoned (good for him really, he's stinkin rich but doesn't seem to play a focal role in the company anymore). I'd love to put him in a pit against Jobs (and I'm an Android fan btw)
Someone mentioned WDC. I heard not that long ago they were one of the worst 52 week performers (if not thee worst) in NYSE; maybe the indice move has bearing on that.
Related to Storage was all down big today due to Morgan Stanley inventory report + summer lurking when demand drop off is big. I was actually going to jump in STX today, but I think a wait and see is more prudent as it has more correction to go.
p.s. i would not be looking for any bump on Dell tomorrow after that earnings report. i thought they might turn it around today because the expectations were SO LOW but I guess not. 14 was supposed to be strong support but it was broken, the floor is the bottom at this point; they are at a 10 year low w/o a plan, and still very encumbered by lagging PC biz.
The stock everyone will talk about is Pandora as this stock will release earnings after the Bell.
If you looked several pages back in March, almost everyone on this board, either shorted the stock or bought put options. I bought put options and was easily able to triple my investment. It was probably one of the easiest trade at the time.
Now fast forward to todays market, how does Pandora sound to everyone?
I just dont see how it can continue to go up and probably deserves to be around 5-6 dollars. It also has too much competition like I Heart radio, L=Spotify]/Spotify-coupons/#shopnow=http://www.spotify.com[/L], etc..
or since we know the history of the volatility, we can always straddle to limit our risk.
