if i start a sole prop business where i'm evaluating hotels and writing reviews on them for others to read and look to make my money from advertisements, are all my hotel stays deductible? (as like a research expense?)
btw, im not talking about being a travel agent-just a hotel reviewer
what about transportation to get to the hotel?

thanks

only for three years, and then if you don't make a profit, no. and assuming that you have proof that every hotel stay has a review for it.

if I blog about everything I do and try to sell ads can my whole life be tax deductible?

I've written off every personal expense I've had since I started posting on FWF.

But what if he combines the reviewing hotels business with a profitable enterprise (even, say, eBay selling) as one entity: "Jetsfan Enterprises" - selling widgets and reviewing hotels. Then maybe the enterprise isn't a hobby. I suppose the IRS could dissect your entire business and find that one part is a sham for tax avoidance?

Would the answer be different if the activities were done under a single LLC or corporate form rather than by a sole proprietor?

we have already discussed this, how to make ALL your travel tax deductible, not just hotels, AND how to show a profit (your eBay sales) so that the legitimacy wont be questioned
