I think you need to be on their list to get the promo. However, I think calling and inquiring whether you are on the list may help putting your name on the list. Even though I was not on the list during $200 promo, I called and, finally, got this new promo.
Also, per branch representative, it takes 6-8 weeks for bonus to post after the first DD (or ACH) posts.

Having the image is of no use. All they need is the offer code (RC3 in this offer). Then it's the matter of having your name on the list.

well I contacted customer service and asked for promo code RC3 and she said ok and setup my account. I'm going into the branch today to setup my account. So I'll keep everyone updated on this.

I have signed up for my account; I went to branch in Longview, Texas to make my intial opening deposit she asked for the promo again and said "Wow that's a good offer, well I got that added to your account you'll receive it in 4-6 weeks after DD" My employer is changing my DD this week, so I'll keep you all updated.

I just spoke to Customer Service in Dallas. You must make, depending upon your offer, either one or two $250 direct deposits into this account to qualify for the bonus. There also doesn't seem to be a problem with former Capital One Checking Account customers qualifying for this bonus, which is a good thing.

I called a branch in Dallas area. He said you must be a CapOne credit card holder to receive the mail. Is there anyway to get your name on the list even you don't hold its credit card?

so it does not explicitly contain the message "only for new customers" ? or any words around that meaning like "cannot be combined with any other offer" ? does it also say anything about initial opening deposit? i'm guess $100 but just wanted to make sure since BoA has to have $500 opening balance in some other thread.
Got the bonus on 12/22. It's been roughly 7 weeks since I applied.

CapOne has to be the most customer unfriendly cc company out there. And this deal seems impossible to get. Told relatives in Conn. about this deal and they have received only the run around, no $.

I just called the branch and they will open it over the phone. Their system was down, but I will try again later and update on the progress. I will not be on their list, but am going to try the RC3 code.

It might be worth opening up a Capital One Credit card and then trying to get them to honor the offer, even though I wasn't targeted.
