I just saw this article

The card will be issued by Chase

-Starts Nov 16
-Must spend $2000 in first three months
-$75 annual fee

Here is a link to apply. (Thanks Floydian)

11/23/09 I got a call from a CSR telling me she would approve my application if I agreed to close three dormant accounts with Chase, so of course I agreed and was given a limit of $4000 (approximately the total limit of the three closed accounts) Hooray!

<edit: corrected required spending amount>
<edit 2: added link by Floydian>
<edit 3: updated status>

  • BA miles cannot be redeemed for transatlantic flights on American Airlines. However, they can be redeemed for other oneworld flights, including transatlantic Iberia flights, and non-transatlantic AA flights.
  • The 2-for-1 voucher is good only for BA mainline flights, not partners.
  • To check on status of your application using an automated line, call 800-945-2006. At the prompt press # then 1, then enter your SSN
  • To check on status with a human, 888-270-2127
  • BA miles expires 36 months after last earning or redeeming of miles
  • Receive 50,000 miles after FIRST purchase
  • Receive 50,000 bonus miles after spending $2k in 3 months
  • Earn 2.5 miles per dollar spent on BA
  • Earn 1.25 miles per dollar spent otherwise
  • $75 Annual FEE

    Does Chase still have the 1 application per 6 months limit?

    I was wondering about that myself, and although this application does not mention it explicitly as with some applications in the past, I wouldn't be surprised if they use that reason for denial, especially in this tight credit environment. FYI to those who recently applied for the Chase Sapphire card.

    and just so i'm clear, the 100K miles gets you similar awards as other airlines for 100K miles?

    Before anyone gets too excited about flying to Europe in first for free, note that BA has hefty fuel surcharge fees. Last year, they ran a mileage promotion under which I thought my wife and I would be going to Europe in business or first class on miles until I learned that we would be paying over a grand in fuel surcharge fees. Still a good deal to be sure, but deflating when we thought it would be a nominal charge. So we didn't go. Still opportunities to use the miles on AA without such fees, but investigate (on Flyertalk) before you jump.

    $1k for 2 people in First class isn't bad, but having to use all those miles would suck. Can you tell us more? I assume it was CVG to XXX?

    I just looked through the thread on this cc deal on flyertalk, and somewhere in there is a link to the tariff and fee schedule for award miles. With it, you should be able to tell how much money it will cost for an award trip.

    The fees are pretty bad, but the miles can be used on AA and partner airlines as well. My wife and I applied.
