How much is a mortgage loan fee cost?

My broker quoted me 1% of the house purchase price to do a mortgage loan, is that fair?
Where can I go to do some shopping?

And any recommendations that they can do a good loan under short sale scenarios?

Try the local large banks. Stay away from mortgage brokers. I know some folks have had good luck with them but I've heard too many horror stories to do anything other than go with a large bank. Shop around.
