This is similar to what I've done with my wallet, except w/ a thick rubber band.
Also, I carry a MC and Visa in addition to AMEX -- all from different banks -- just in case one gets frozen due to fraud, don't want to be left without any access to cash.
Strong rubber band would be much better, it seem to me. Also, the cards stacked like that will have a far shorter life span.. My opinion of course, I could be wrong.

Yeah, that's why I go with rubber band. You know, I haven't noticed any damage to my cards yet, most of the scratching comes from incompetent cashiers swiping it a hundred times when their reader is crap
I use Dopp front pocket wallet. I have 8 cards in there and about 10 bills and it is only 1/2 inch thick and fit in the front pocket easily. It has a slot to hold credit card receipts too. I had it for over 5 years and none of the credit card ever got demagnetized.

Note: If you blur out your credit card number, be sure to blur out the ones in the middle. The blurred first group is the BIN, which is public info. It is relatively easy to add on the BIN for an AMEX Clear, then append the appropriate check digit that has been obscured by the clip.
A moderately motivated person could reconstruct his AMEX number from the information in that photo.
There is actually something called "fat wallet syndrome" -- a painful condition that affects those with oversized wallets. "Sitting on a thick billfold can put pressure on your sciatic nerve, the major nerve running through the buttocks," according to Men's Health.

If you want something other than a butterfly clip, might I recommend The Jimi Wallet for casual occasions and The Slim Slimmy for more formal occasions. I've used these two for years - I carry my debit card, two credit cards, my drivers license, and a couple of bills.
Gonna really impress the ladies with your binder clip "wallet".

I have carried only 3 cards in my pocket for the last several years.
1) Schwab 2% CC 2) Concealed Firearms License 3) Work ID or School ID
Drivers License/Registration/Insurance card are hidden in my car. I keep a $20 emergency bill in a special keychain "cash-can" for emergencies. I keep my Penfed 5% gas card in my car as well - since I only put gas in my car. When I travel on vacation I take my "car wallet" with me since I might be driving or fueling another car.

I've used a binder clip for about 8 years now. I'd love to have something more stylish, but alas they don't make money clips thick enough. I have a thick stack in my clip, so it's not exactly minimalist, but eliminating 4 stacked sheets of leather, makes a big difference in bulk.

1) Schwab 2% CCInteresting, given that the Schwab 2% CC has been in existence for less than a year.

I can't find the company right now but they make slim wallets that are leather and also made of a material akin to that used in sails. They make for very thin wallets. I think I have like 25 cards in mine right now and it is extremely thin. Used one for years. My only complaint is organization as it consists of essentially 4 pockets and then two pockets for cash. But it is awesome for having a very thin wallet to hold your items in. I need to find the company.
Anyways the one I am using is a weird purple color right now, but to be honest nobody ever sees my wallet except me. I am not flashing it around or showing it off, so I don't care what it looks like, and the fact that this one can hold quite a bit between cash and cards and still be ultra thin makes it very useful to me.
edit: here is the site, it is all-ett wallets.

I use the "Super Skinny" from http://www.bigskinny.net/ - mostly because it's not leather like the all-ett wallets. My partner uses the "Metro Wallet" and I kind of like it better than mine. (Bonus: Wait till around Father's day for a coupon for them)

Obviously before it came out I had a different CC in my pocket. I believe it was Orchard 2% CC. The point is I only carried 3 cards for the last several years and one of those was a CC.

I have one of them (the original model) and I love it. It fits perfectly in my back pocket, and is very slim. I usually carry around 8 cards (2-3 CCs, ATM card, driver's license, insurance card, library card, Costco membership, and a business card). Because it has 4 pockets, that means most pockets have only two cards. It's very easy to slip out the top or the bottom one, which eliminates any card shuffling.
Having separate pockets for money and CC receipts is also very nice.

Now that's an awfully huge coincidence that somebody with the username "dfriestedt" would come to FW and with their only two postings, duplicates, promote the same product. Don't you think?

I ordered the L-shape one in tuxedo black. I also checked out the all-ett wallets, and they also have a line of vegan wallets, but they don't seem to be designed as well or made with the same quality. Now I just have to find a new belt that I like and I'll be all set.

My collection of thin wallets that are actually wallets continues to grow:
I have the Jimi, the Slim Slimmy, and now I'm using the Mighty Wallet, made from a Tyvek air mail envelope. It's "cute" and has held up really well.
