Has anyone seen the new Form 5405? I need to mail this in. If I don't find it by Wednesday, I'm going to mail the old one in...

"Changes have been made to the first-time homebuyer credit by Public Law
111-92, the Worker, Homeownership, and Business Assistance Act of 2009,
which was enacted on November 6, 2009. As a result, the 2008 Form 5405
can be used only for homes purchased before November 7, 2009, for which
an election is made to claim the credit for 2008. We will soon issue a
December 2009 revision of Form 5405. The December 2009 revision will be
for use for all homes purchased after November 6, 2009 (whether the credit
is claimed for 2008 or for 2009) and for all claims on 2009 returns for
homes purchased any time in 2009."

Sounds to me like they are in the process of making one, and it will come out some time in December. Also, given that people are already waiting months to get refunds (some are getting them in just a few weeks, but lots of horror stories, too), I don't think using the wrong form would be a good idea.

I can get a tax credit for H&B? I'm in the money!

Form 69-420 hasn't been revised in a while.

I guess I will just balance transfer in the meantime. I know about 20 ppl doing this right now and I was at a meeting last night with ~10 others who settle in the next 2 weeks.

I am homeowner, and you can too.

Still waiting on the new form, but they indicate it will be available by 1/8/10.

It's out now. I just saw it on Monday, January 18.
