At last, a Black Friday deal for us FWFinance types.
Ken (BankDeals) reports that a representative of ING Direct told him that ING is having a Black Friday Sale on Friday November 27th. There are no details yet on their Black Friday promo page, but the ING Direct representative said that the one-day promotion will include specials on their CDs and Electric Orange checking account.
I'm looking to open a $5k CD fairly soon. Think it would be worth pulling the money out of ING today to be able to transfer it back in on black friday in case it is a new money only deal? Would that even work...
Also it might be too late for it all to clear though i think i might just make it.

Considering that no one knows what the black friday CD rate will be, then I can't imagine anyone can answer this.
Electric Orange accounts are limited to one per person. There's no indication in the terms either way as to whether it is new customers only or not. Based on the signup process, it appears to be available for existing ING customers without an Electric Orange and for customers entirely new to ING.

Well, at least they started the trend of offering savings deals on Black Friday as opposed to having the day be all about buying useless crap on credit.
Maybe next year, or in a couple more years, we'll see some competition on Black Friday to get savings dollars by offering some real deals.
I'll put my money into the 3% 30 month CD offered by Indus American Bank.
If you do open an electric orange don't forget to get one of your friends to refer you...with a referral if you deposit $250 you get $25 and your friend gets $10. This would be on top of the $121. The referral of course is for NEW customers and not for those like me who already had the savings account and just added the checking for the bonus.

I signed up for a checking account. It's like more than a day's worth of pay for less than a day's worth or work. More like 4 hours pay for 4 hours work (when I have to follow up on them NOT paying the bonus on time, etc.)
Anyone have a printout of the EO $121 bonus deal? I forgot to write down the exact requirements/no of transactions needed in the first 45 days to earn that bonus.

Cha-Ch-ING-Direct! A nice little palindrome amount landed in my account too

I signed up on the 28th, was supposed to post the 17th but that was Sunday and now a holiday. I really hope it shows up tomorrow, my transactions show 5 signature based but I actually only signed for 2 of them (I kept getting myself into situation where I assumed they would ask for my sig but never did, so when I saw that those transactions still showed as signature, I didn't bother spending the last 20 dollars in my account).

so, how soon can we start shutting our accounts down? Any early close out fees?
I'm in the gray zone where I had to call in on Saturday to get in the deal, because I was unable to make a transfer from the closed account that ING reported that I had. The bonus has not posted. I'll have to call tomorrow to see what's up.
You've got to be freaking kidding me. I saw you people saying you got your bonus, so I went to check my account. One of my purchases never went through. The last time I logged in, 2 purchases went through and 1 was pending. I didn't think anything of it. Well, apparently the store never finalized the transaction and it got cancelled. I have NEVER in my life been so lucky as to have a credit fail to materialize on my statement, and the one time it finally does it, it's for $10 purchase that jips me out of $121. F#*@
Edit: Ugh...today is not my day at all. In a completely unrelated matter, I ordered 9 identical items online and just received the shipment. They sent the correct items, but the manufacturer packaged the wrong thing in the box (it's a different but equal valued item, so I don't think someone would have done the repackage-and-return scam).

I don't think orange has any fees but I am holding out on the withdrawl till I hear from other FWers that they think it is safe.

Ugh, here: You have met your obligations for the bonus. They have credited the bonus. They can't take the bonus back. ING has no minimum balance fees. Transfer out at will.

Got my bonus but only after calling in. They claimed a hiccup possibly due to something about my card coming in late (I don't think it did and I had no trouble making my purchases).

For a few days, my third purchase disappeared completely, so I made another $1.00 transaction to be on the safe side. Too bad I didn't post the story here at that time for your benefit, I guess...
