I am a recent grad and I applied for the group plan from my alumni assoication. here is the term from my alumni assoication page: " Blue Shield Major Medical provides reliable coverage at competitive rates. Recent grads under age 40- Apply within 135 days of graduation to be accepted regardless of any pre-existing conditions. Only available to California residents. "
I matched all the requirements:recent grad, under 40, applied within 135 days. However my app was declined, with some no-sense reason that "I have to be an alumni to be eligible for the plan". I contacted them several times, even bbb but no response from them. What should I do now?
How did you contact them (you didn't specify other than "no response" which makes me think a letter)? Did you call and explain the situation? If so, what was their response? Did you escalate to a supervisor?
If you haven't called, do it.
If no resolution at that point, try contacting your alumni association. They may have a special contact person that can help you through the process.
FWF Customer Service is now closed for the evening. Please call back after 8am PST.

yes, I replied them by mail after I received the application declined letter.
Talk to your alumni association administrator. Ask for a letter verifying your alumni association membership or a copy of your alumni association membership certificate which may simply be a letter or email.

called twice this afternoon, but was tranferred by the operators to representatives voice mails, left one message to them.
I am a lifetime member. But the alumni assoication admin asked me to contact blue shield. I called the number on this pagelink, Marsh Affinity Group Services Phone: (877) 249-7868
Hope they can listen the message I just left and call back. If they doesn't, what'll be an alternative way to get an afforable health plan (for age 27 male, no pre-ex condition) in CA?
