Does account refer to a checking account or any type of account. Also, does it set any conditions (must have no other accounts with Wachovia, first-time depositor, etc.)?

Set up the account,lol I think I drove the CSR crazy. takes 45 days after $100.00 deposit for bonus. I opened up 5 way2save(5% interest and an additional 5% at the years end. Hard to get money into the account though.) accounts and 5 checking accounts(requirement in order to maximize way2save accounts).

Recieved $50.00 bonus yesterday (12/11). Opened on the 11/23. Approximately, 3 weeks instead of the 45 days stated by the CSR.

I checked mine right now and sure enough the $50.00 was credited on 12/11/2009 ($50 CREDIT COURTESY OF WACHOVIA). I also applied on 11/23. They must have a very efficient system.

For a greater total savings balance, perhaps? And why is it hard to get money into the accounts? I guess you mean recurring transfers of up to $100 every month are capped.

Correct, $100.00 of recurring xfers each month, but you can get more in by using your debit card, bill payments, and ACH debits. I'm doing like 50 bill payments/month. And will increase it soon once my BTs go through. I have 5 accounts and will have $1200+ at the end of the year.
