I had 2 CD's open with Ally, a 6mo and 9mo no penalty cd; On Saturday my 6mo CD expired, so I called in and asked that the funds be transferred to my Savings account with them and told them I didn't want to renew as the current savings account rate is higher than a new 6 month cd. For some reason Ally doesn't let you close or manage your CD expiration instructions online and you must call in.
I thought simple enough, until I logged in today and noticed that Ally closed not only my 6 month CD that came to term, but also my 9 month cd that was due to close on 02/20/2010 and had a 2.5% interest rate.
I called them and told them that they must have made a mistake by closing both CD's and requested that the 9 month CD be reinstated. I was told that it must have been my request and that they will review phone record which could take a week or more and then make a decision. I asked how I would be notified of the decision and if I would recieve propper back interest and they told me to check my account sometime next week and couldn't answer the question about back interest.
Has anyone else had crazy things like this with Ally? Is there anyone else I can complain to that would be of any benefit?

Thanks
QFT, and bolded.
Wait a week, and hear what they have to say. If you don't like it, then come back and ask for help. or use the week to pre-emptively hunt down the next steps you may need to take. But in MY opinion, it will be a waste of time, because ifyour facts are true, then they will realize their mistake and make it right.
Had similar issue, they will make it right dont worry they are very good on keeping their word

I'm new to Ally, and the interest on my Savings & Money Market didn't post on the statement closing date. The phone reps couldn't explain why. I didn't find any pertinent info on the website. Anyone know the interest posting policy? Thanks

Should post on statement close...unless you are dealing with a large amount of money you can wait another cycle to see what happens and demand back interest if needed

Here's the most recent explanation I received: if your first statement cycle is less than 30 days, the initial interest pays the following month on the closing date. That payment will include the previous statement's interest.

I had an issue with Ally (was GMAC at the time) where they didn't post my payroll ACH and a couple times they didn't refund ATM fees. Both of them got fixed but what happens if I wasn't paying attention...
