Every year there have been numerous deals for free software after buying TaxCut (new name H&R Block Deluxe) , notably Microsoft MONEY. I know MONEY is no longer offered but I haven't seen any other combo deals either. I expect Intuit has some deals with TurboTax anmd Quicken but I would expect something related to TaxCut.
After using TaxCut for 10+ years, I tried TurboTax last year (didn't like it as much, I assume I'm just to used to TaxCut). Last week I got a H&R Block at Home disc and it includes a free copy (Federal only, including 5 eFiles). I assume this is to win me back plus they figure I'll spring for state + state efile. Maybe I'll get free TT next year
I just found out that I can get Turbo Tax Deluxe free including the state version since I am a Vanguard flagship customer. I've just downloaded it and am trying it out.
duhmel, in past years Vanguard only offered the online versions for Flagship customers as I recall, but they came with free efile for federal and state. is there free efile with the download version?

They sent me a copy but on the front and back of the case it says only $34.95
Free efiles and one state with the free downloaded version. If you need schedule E for rental properties it will cost $10. So far the TurboTax has been easier to use than TaxCut. My previous year's TaxCut info imported into TurboTax as well as my stock sales from MONEY.

I got one in the mail to, but it also says $34.95 at the top. Are you sure you just didn't miss this bit if information your box?
Amazon has H&R Block at Home Deluxe Federal + State + efile (5 of them) for $39.99. The disc I received in the mail did include a $10 MIR and eligible retailers include Amazon, Best Buy, Target, Office Depot, Microcenter, Staples & Fry's. So, $29.99 not too bad for a version that includes state.
For years, I have been buying TaxAct Deluxe with one free e-file, pre-release for $9.95.

Office Depot has H&R Block At Home Deluxe + Efile 2009 for $29.99.link My local ad says free Sony movie with purchase. Best deal I've seen if you don't need state.
