*********** Does Huntington perform a Hard pull?
Does a direct deposit count as a customer initiated transaction? What about initiating a transfer from another bank to transfer money out of this one?
According to Wikipedia, Huntington Bank serves Indiana, Kentucky, Michigan, Ohio, Pennsylvania, and West Virginia. YMMV trying to open an account if not in one of those states.

I read on another board that it is a hard pull, so I'm waffling on whether to jump on this offer. For $50 more, I'd have no such hesitation.

Says it can't immediately approve my application, but that my application will be reviewed, and I'll be contacted within two business days. I've opened up three checking accounts for bonuses in the last month, so maybe this has something to do with it...

It let me transfer funds from another bank account (providing acct # and routing #). The only other option I believe is going to a local branch.

Same here. Received "Under Review" but application process allowed me to complete the funding step. I received an email about 5 hours later that the application had been reviewed and approved. The address I used is in NY State.

Thanks a lot! I didn't feel like calling customer service just for that bit of info.
BTW, I added Huntington to my HSBC account so now I can make transfers. I entered my Huntington login to HSBC and it automatically verified the account! No trial deposits needed. I'm liking Huntington already.

The app takes 15-20 minutes (depending on how much you save/print/read disclosures)
They declined my application. Perhaps because I tried to fund with only $1 to start?

The reviewed my app and finally approved me, but with so many apps now being declined, is there a FWF effect happening?

eta: I still have a Chexsystems "Account Abuse" mark from April 2009 M & T Bank bonus spree. What is the "Account Abuse" for? Did you violate any TOS?I opened 7 accounts for promotional reasons last year.
One of the account bonuses was reversed after I had spent some of the $$$. I ignored the negative balance for about 45 days. (read more here if interested)
My mother stopped in to see if there was any accounts paying better interest than her basic savings acct. Today she told me about this 'special type of account' that they put her money in. When she said 'special account', I know right away that they tricked her into a whole life policy.
They told her that she could withdraw funds at any time. They explained nothing about fees, taxes, policy value, nor the lack of FDIC coverage. Yes, those details are hidden somewhere in the 20 pages of micro-font legalese that she received. She says that they even referred to it as being 'like a CD'.
I explained to her that the teller probably earned a commission & would say most anything to convince her to sign up. I am going down tomorrow to see if she can get out of it. I will probably be arrested before the day is over.
