Open a Chase MileagePlus credit card and get 30,000 miles after putting $250 in charges on card. NO FEE first year, $60 after that. I have never seen a United credit card without a fee.
Plus as a bonus, after you are done you will get to a screen for $125 if you open a Chase Credit card. I know in the Chase $125 thread they said you could no longer get this deal online, so this is one way to get it online.
This "deal" has been around in multiple incarnations for at least 10 years.

Delta keeps records if you've done this before and won't let you do it again, even years later. I had this UA card a couple of years ago. Can I do it again?

OP, please revise to read "...$125 if you open a Chase checking account."

I have done this about 3 times with this card. I get it, keep it 11 months, cancel it not taking the "keep the card bait", wait 6 months, and get it again.

thats not true...I got the original 15K miles back in 2001, and then I just got the 20K miles in 2008, so it is possible to get it with AMEX/Delta

Forever. Chase/UAL will only give miles one time per MileagePlus account for a chase card. Period.

you can let them assign a UA MP+ number for you and then merge the 2 accounts - I have done this in the past once - not sure if United will allow it now.

I think the way around this is to not give them your MileagePlus account number when you apply. They will open a new account for you and after an appropriate waiting period, you can have UAL merge the two accounts.

Last time I had this card I called before the annual fee payment and got my card converted to no fee Chase Freedom. This time I called they said due to their agreement with United they were not allowed to transfer this card into a different product. The only way I can not pay is to close the account. Has anyone else experienced this or am I not pushing hard enough? Might be they are trying to close down my absurd credit line as I am not using any of it.

For the 25k bonus miles it requires opening a Chase checking account, signing up for the Continental preferred debit card ($65), using the debit card 5x to get the bonus miles, and keeping the account open for 6 months. To avoid fees for 6 months means either setting up direct deposit or making 5 debit card purchases a month.
50,000 miles on signup, now, with no minimum purchase. call 800-421-4655. MUST be done on phone.
steps: 1. select “manage my account” 2. provide mileage plus number and zip code 3. say “more options” 4. say “apply for a United mileage plus card”.

for anyone who got their miles , how long after your first purchase was it before the miles were posted in your united account ?
I got the miles as soon as my first statement closed. So from application until miles was just over 4 weeks. However after I did this, the 50,000 bonus came out, search for that one on FW, so do that one instead.
