jcolson (Aug. 07, 2012 @ 5:36a) |

Yes, plug it in and turn it on to charge. If I remember correctly, the instructions say to charge it for only an hour.

thc (Aug. 07, 2012 @ 7:48a) |

Still 3 in stock for today!
That's after almost an hour being live too. Just goes to show these things are easy to get if you can wake up early enough

looks like a scam to me after trying for 20 mins ill pass.

UPDATE: its not a scam its just a big ole pain in the butt to get it

I think you're doing it wrong. Did you read the rules? 5 mp3 players a day which resets at 5AM CST. It shows the current count, so it says 0 you're already too late. Why are you "trying 20 mins"? I received mine a few weeks ago, and the mp3 players are a great freebie. They are similar to an old generation ipod shuffle, good for gym/running. It's worth about $10.

its real

Looks like I'm in for 1. Neat.

Looks like i'm in for 1 too.

There are still 4 available for today.

thank you <3 (only two left)

EDIT: it is real. mine came awhile back with a little booklet on how to be happy. nice company! <3

Received today.

Interesting: Mine came with a tiny little USB MicroSD drive. However, it fits more tightly into a USB port than into its own housing so when you try to pull it out it stays and the housing comes off. Also, it doesn't work in some of my USB ports when a MicroSD card is in it. It's pretty worthless. Since the mp3 player already can handle that job anyway, it's totally redundant.

Finally, one other thought: Dollar Tree has a rigid ~1.5 inch long miniUSB->regular USB A plug that is perfect for this...no need for a cable to wrap up and tangle, just a plug to use.

That's bundled with a USB A male->female adapter of the same length, which appears useless but actually goes well with the mini adapter when you need it to stand off just a little further. It could also be used for flaky USB ports, just leave it in the port forever (maybe glue it in place).

In for one..2 left as of 7am est

Haven't received mine yet, Hopefully I'll get it tomorrow

Received mine today

Finally got mine set up. Used a micro SD and adapter. Working great so far. Hope the battery lasts a while

got to the order form, but it won't let me fill in the state (i put in the country, but the dropbox for state won't work, and it won't let me type it in.) tried using both chrome and firefox.

The trick is to sign up for an account beforehand so it already has all your details.

Thanks, that worked! In for 1.

Hope am not too late to get one!

Got one this morning at 5:00 AM.

All 5 were gone by 5:05.

Thanks OP!

Got mine today after exactly 28 days. A word of warning, it's defaulted on a very loud volume setting so each time you turn it on, it ends up blasting your ears.

Thanks OP. I got one today (not in my hands but I was one of the five). I had a bit of trouble when the drop down menu for the states didn't work so if you run into that, first go and make an account, then put the order through.

I spoke to one of the employees who answered quickly and was very helpful. If I needed something that they sell, I would consider them.

Was that shipped from China? That would make the most sense why it takes so long.

Yes, shipped from China.

Mine was shipped from HK and though I did it on the 1st, they didn't ship it until the 18th. I guess seven business days isn't extremely long considering...

I was able to add it to my cart and then I tried to enter my mailing information at checkout but it won't let me enter my region/state and without that information entered it won't allow me to continue on in the ordering process.

Worked for me following your tip. Thanks!

I supposedly was able to order one on 3/16 and shipped 3/24, but never received it. No big deal since it is free, but thanks for posting this shipped directly from China, now I understand why it may not arrive.

poor quality?

Cosmetically, no. It looks really cool, nicely machined aluminum housing with controls/plugs/etc that fit nicely.

Functionally it's not very useful. Sound quality is fine. Navigation, not so great. It just plays linearly from the beginning of the card. There's no shuffle, no skipping of folders, no playlist functionality that I can find. All you can do is skip forward one song at a time but it doesn't do well at that job. Sometimes it at least saves your place when you turn it off so it will resume from the same song.

If I had a piece of software that would detect that I plugged it in and rename all its files with random names, that would probably produce a shuffle-like effect.

This would probably be best used with a pocketful of small-capacity MicroSD cards, each card containing either a variety, one genre, or one artist. You could label them to make it easy to choose, or skip labeling them for a shuffle-like effect.

UPDATE: i am still waiting to receive this item... i did jump through all the hoops ( quite a few of them )and eventually broke down and had to use IE to get it. so i retract what i said previously as the "login with facebook" tab is something new to me. yes i am a diehard freebie fan and sorry for any confusion. if i receive the item i will update my post again. thanks

Well I ordered today early morning. I hope this is a legitimate site, given that you share your name/house address to them ?

ordered mine on 3-24 and received it today! About 5 weeks of waiting.

got it today.. it will do absolutely nothing. i plug it into my pc and it shows up as a 0 byte disk and cannot be formatted or anything like that. the micro sd card thing does the same exact thing when i plug it in. it also got stuck in the pc and had to use pliers to remove it ... luckily they sent this sweet little book with it to remind me of "12 ways to be happy"...

Did you put an micro SD card in the player? Because it doesn't come with any storage...

Update: I'm much happier with it now.

I put together a microSD card containing only songs that I really love and would rarely want to skip. I did it piecemeal, rather than a folder at a time. The player plays in the order that the files are put on the card; it doesn't sort them at all, not even alphabetically, so my idea of software to randomly rename files wouldn't work. As a whole this works out pretty well, although I'll have to erase and fill the card again once in a while or it will get stale playing the same songs in the same order.

I'm not sure why it wasn't saving my place when I shut it off before, now it does every time.

Battery life is fine as long as it gets charged after each use.

The clip is nice and strong. It stayed stuck to my sleeve without incident for 3 hours of mountain biking. No need for a case, armband, etc.

Thc...Did you do anything special to get songs to play? I just put one song on my tiny card that I put in this player and nothing happens. I see the red light is on so there's power. And I wonder how you powered it. I have a plug for my old cell phone that fits this so I figured that would charge it.

But I don't get why it just doesn't play the song on the card. Hum. With a new micro card do you know if you have to do anything like format it? I wouldn't think so today but I don't get why it doesn't play. Thanks for any suggestions.

I didn't do anything special and you shouldn't have to format the card. Sometimes I feel like I have to hit the play/pause button a few times before it starts playing. It may only be able to play MP3 files, so if you used a WMA or some other format it might not work. I don't think it will play while it's plugged in, if you're trying to do that. If all else fails, try a few different MP3s from different sources, you may have an MP3 that it just doesn't like.

For power: I have a bunch of USB-Mini-B cables, they used to be standard on cameras, hard drives, and mp3 players until USB-Micro-B became popular a few years ago with the standardization of USB power for cell phones. Any USB-Mini-B cable ought to suffice. Dollar Tree has a nice USB-Mini-B connector, instead of a whole cable it's just the connectors and about 1.5 inches long...the whole thing just sticks out of the USB port nicely. I've been using that most of the time. It's not on Dollar Tree's site but here's a photo:
http://i695.photobucket.com/albums/vv315/theh0lyc0w/p_00424.jpg
It is packaged with a similar-sized USB A male to USB A female adapter, basically a 1.5 inch extension, which looks useless but is nice for making it stick out just a little further.

Skipping 6 Messages...

red light means its on you want it off for charging. just use any old usb-microusb cable ... i finally shelled out $12 for a 16g micro sdhc class4 card. ( needed in my case since the one they sent was garbage and had to be forcibly removed from my computers usb slot with a pair of pliers. ) i doubt i will ever use this much tho i think the card will be of better use in my camera in which 16g gives about 99999 pics.
