I just downloaded the client, but after the downloaded completed it got stuck on initializing for like 30 minutes. So i decided to close the launcher and reopen it. Now it says "Updating Blizzard Launcher 0%" and it's just stuck there. Is this normal? I am contemplating uninstalling and reinstalling, but I'm thinking this might be normal until 3pm ET.
EDIT.
Fixed it. Just killed the agent.exe process and launched D3 beta again.. It's working now.

Well, Blizzard, congrats on releasing your product, finally. I'm sure it will sell well and win lots of accolades. I, for one, will not be playing it. I registered for beta selection in May of 2009 and you never bothered to send me an invite. You also did little to keep me interested or hopeful for the project as the years and decades passed. I totally respect that Blizzard releases a game when it's "done", as it should be. However, I'd feel a bit like your lapdog bitch if with two months warning I came crawling back and purchased on May 15.
Wanted to write this somewhere, sorry for the carp.

Good hunting to you all.
Beta invites are such a crapshoot, and the vast majority of players never get them. What you should be angry about are the disappointing products they've been churning out lately. Starcraft 2 was a joke imo, nothing more than a shameless facsimile of the original.
ETA: I am definitely reserving judgment on Diablo 3 and hoping it lives up to expectations. Download just finished, so I'm crossing my fingers!

Just finished playing 2 hours of D3 and all I can say is mehhhhh
Was going to pay $60 May 15th at midnight launch but this open beta is kinda making me re-think that idea.

It's a surprisingly small download. Does anyone know what the system requirements are?

I was playing it on a 6-year-old machine earlier, and I was impressed with how well it ran.
As BLASK said, though, it is so unimpressive. I kept waiting to be impressed, and it just never happened. If you are completely new to the franchise, I guess I can see how it wouldn't be so bad, but if you got started in the Nineties, you will be disappointed.

I have played 1 and 2 repeatedly over the last few years. Have played for the last 2 hours and like it. Not awesome, but good. Graphics are better. Still some bugs to work out. Stalls in places, but it is beta.
Thanks for giving us a beta to wet our appetite.

I gave it a whirl for a little bit and its kinda blah.....Then again I can't imagine I'd feel much different had I jumped into D2 beta. This is a small piece of a much larger puzzle.

i agree, i was already to buy it but after playing beta im second guessing. I've been playing Drakensang Online which I like better at this point and it is free.
I found it just as addictive as D2. And it gets better as you progress further. Some features won't show up until after 2 hours or so. I feel that they took a lot of ideas from other games especially "Dragon Age: Origins" in terms of features. (But no non-linear storyline as far as I can see.) It's a very good and solid product. Not very innovative but very good quality. I like it over products such as "Dragon Age II". Green to OP!

Played for a couple of hours last night. It's fun, but I agree with the others - nothing really innovative or fresh to set it apart from the other Diablo games or Dragon Age, Torchlight, etc.

I'm really looking forward to Torchlight 2. Technically those guys are the true Diablo founders anyway. I did have the chance to play with a few other players last night it was a lot more fun.

I do expect to see some interesting stories as the game unfolds since Blizzard hired a couple of good designers including Kevin Martens from Bioware who worked on DAO and Neverwinter Nights. He was the lead designer of Baulder's Gate II which is one of the best RPGs I ever played.

I anticipate Diablo 3 to launch like Duke Nukem's latest addition

You can continue to play but won't get additional contents. I like it and probably will buy it upon release or even preorder(still thinking about the preorder as I still have the Witcher Enhanced Edition to work on, which will take a long time...).

Yeah - after you defeat the Skeleton King it's over. I did have about 3 hours of fun though.

The "release" version will have 3 Acts, the first act is the same as the beta, the final act will be Diablo again. Lvl cap is going to be same at 99, however farming items and materials is going to be pretty lucrative (live currency in play).
I'm setting up my farm in china as we speak.

I believe you mean that it will have 4 acts, and that the level cap is 60. Both of which you can see from their game guide site (http://us.battle.net/d3/en/game/) Check a level progression site for the level cap.
Also, the level cap in the beta/demo is 13. But yes, the end of it is the end of act 1. It doesn't take long to beat the whole thing, but IMO the game is a major improvement over D2, and D2 was pretty awesome.

From what I can gather, Skeleton King is probably a mini-boss. Keep in mind, there were those sets of scribe journals written by someone who should be deeper in the cathedral than the Skeleton King, and will most likely be a larger boss.
(That and it'd be pretty pathetic if Act I was a 50-minute play-through with the exact same Act 1 final boss as in Diablo I)

That's what I thought at first too. But from my understanding the scribe journals are from the guy who's ghost you see stab the skeleton king before you get to the 4 activated pillars.
After you kill the Skeleton King too, they start talking about Kurast.

New guys.
Be aware that after downloading & installing this file, the program connects online to download more files (which can take forever). Make sure you allot at least 45 mins for this to happen.

In the character selection screen you can right click to see your "Diablo 3 career history". I found that I do not have any boss kills in any of the 4 Acts in my "career highlights".
