There are multiple free kindle reader apps for smart phones, windows, mac, etc.

I do not have a kindle. Amazon has a FREE program that makes your PC Computer read all KINDLE books. I have downloaded over 250 FREE Amazon KINDLE books to my PC and read them there.

Thanks for the post, OP. It looks like most of these are published by Amazon Digital, which is basically a vanity press. It's great for folks to get their work out, but there's often a reason they haven't found a traditional publisher. Thanks again, though.
Be careful, a couple of the books are NOT free to buy.
