New site, sends you an email when a carrier makes a material change to your cell phone contract.
By law, they have to let you out of the contract and/or waive the change if you call in within a certain time after they provide notice.
Problem is it's usually in the fine print of your bill, which you don't read. This site is like an early alert system for getting out of your contract legit-ly.

If you use Gmail you can post name+tag@gmail.com and block the +tag if they do spam.
I used myemail+etfsnotspam@gmail.com to keep track, for example.
Still, these guys are behind PhoneNews.com, I doubt they'll spam.

This is good... my mom is locked into a Verizon contract right now, the sleazy salesman sold her an extra line and a fancy smart phone when all she needed was a new (basic, low end) phone (she put her old phone through the washing machine). She's elderly and not particularly techno-savvy, and the unethical Verizon salesperson totally took advantage of her age and lack of knowledge. He sold her a phone that she couldn't even get open after she left the store! Makes my blood boil! Needless to say I won't be buying anything from Verizon any time soon. Hopefully with the help of this web site I will be able to help her get out of that contract faster. Thanks!!

You can always get a cheap feature phone on fleabay, and sell the smartphone. There's no fee to swap devices on Verizon, and the smartphone could pay for a good chunk of the ETF (especially if it's not a low-end smartphone).

Not sure if Verizon has a similar policy, but At&t has 30 days to cancel if not satisfied with either the phone and/or the contract. The financial concern with returning the phone is a possible re-stocking fee and for the contract a pro-rate of monthly charges if I'm not mistaken

Each carrier has its own trial-period policy, and restocking fees can actually depend on where you buy a device.
This is a bit different, as this site handles when a contract is changed after you are locked into a contract. That period too varies from one carrier to another. Sprint I think gives you two weeks whereas Verizon gives you 30 days (I may be wrong on those numbers, my point was that it's different for each carrier, so if you want to port out, you should do it as soon as you become aware of a material change).
