We all want freebies, but sometimes the bad guys play on that desire. None of these supposed freebies will ever come. The entire purpose of these fake freebies is to harvest your personal data for spamming, or worse, purposes. Don't fall for them! If you find anymore, please add them to the Wiki and I'll update the list.

Old fake freebie list (These are all pretty long in the tooth and may have long been shut down, but they are definitely ones to avoid.) Please do not post or sign up for freebies from the following sites... The freebies will never come.

Another fake website posted, http://www.tiptonmills.com Free probiotic coffee sample. ETA: A poster in this thread claimed to have received this. How is one to know a freebie is fake unless you do not receive it? I have had some arrive months later and had forgotten about it. Several months ago I received a full large bottle of some new Elizabeth Arden cologne and had no idea what it was from. I googled it and found that I had placed my name in something where only 150 bottles of this cologne were given out. What are the odds of that happening?
A number of forums work to discover the fakes. Many of the obvious give aways are how old the page itself is, so a freebie page from 2002 is most assuredly fake, if the site is not owned by the company giving away the freebie, if the company is no longer in business, if the site is offering a free product that isn't even made by the manufacturer, the fact that the site ownership and registration looks very hinky, etc. It requires effort on your part to research the freebie. That's why I tried to put together the better known fake freebies into this post, and hope others will add more as they are discovered.
This thread over in Deal Discussion (was originally posted by OP in free Stuff, then moved to DD by mods), is about the rash of Facebook Hijacks. This is when spammers/scammers hijack a legitimate business by creating a fake page claiming to be the legitimate business. All the freebies are high-value items (pot holders, towels, aprons, tablecloths, pizza cutters, cosmetic brushes, beach towel, beach bag, etc). The cost to mail such items to anyone requesting would be prohibitive. No legitimate company would give away such items without restrictions/limitations. Such offers have Quality Health/Lifestyle Advantage (which are probably the same company) pop-ups upon submission, or the free Mary Kay/MAC pop-ups. See thread for the details and list (so far) of identified hijack FB walls.

Thanks for cross posting it into this one Sweet Clover.
Thanks OP, nice work. I mark it to my browser so that I can check at once, especially when I am not sure I am browsing a fake freebie that is in your list. but the question is you tested all of them yourself or you find it somewhere? I hope you have tested all of them
Many "shoppers" happily accept freebies without spending. Also think about where these freebies will live in your home, do they add to the overall vision for that space?
Thanks for the update but fake freebies are around us just like the real ones and they are quite in numbers now, how can we keep ourselves updated regarding these fake ones.

The long list is hard to remember. Consult the list before signing up for a freebie. Especially if the freebie is a high dollar item.
And just for good measure, avoid free USB drives like the plague. I've never heard of a single person ever getting one. And if you do, there's a chance they're cheap and could have malware loaded on them.
Very useful thread, the other day I opted for a freebie and was about to take it when someone told me of fatwallet thread (means this one).I just go through your list and there it was. Thanks for saving me, thanks thank thanks.

And if you do, there's a chance they're cheap and could have malware loaded on them. I received a very nice 8GB one from Verisign. But understand there are only a very small number of those given away, and by the time someone posts about them they're all long gone. If you want to win one, then get on their snail mail mailing list, and check your mailbox regularly. Your best chance is getting that envelope as soon as it's put in your mailbox and heading straight to the computer with it.

All I did was erase everything on them, no virus', that's the first thing I checked for on another computer.
Looks like I am not getting a free Presto Pizza cutter. I think that is the only one that I was fooled on and I had a feeling that one was to good to be true.
You know, re: the free USB drives? Uh, yeah! I concur! I've stopped since it's taken me almost four years to realize it's not happening...LOL! Thanks so much for the info, everyone!
To be fair to Alterna, that is/was a real offer. (It comes and goes as they introduce new products.) My sister has gotten several freebies from them over the years.
The problem is that the giveaway is only intended for licensed cosmetologists - and says as much. At one point, Alterna wasn't checking - now they are.

Good to hear and thanks for sharing..... oh wait, you didn't share, you just bragged!
A true FW member would copy the "bigger list" from your site into the quick summary here, so all could benefit.
That is unless your list is copyrighted and you searched out EACH and EVERY fake freebie on your list, rather than "borrowing" them from other places you visit!
<<off the soapbox, shaking head, wondering WHY people do what they do!!!>>
Back on topic. Thanks WINO (Wineaux)...LOL! Maybe when PEOPLE SHARE their lists, this can become a sticky (HINT HINT MODs!!!).

I agree though. If you have a bigger list, please add it to the Wiki.
New Facebook Phishing Free Offer Advance Auto Engineering - Microfiber detail cloth *New FB site made within a day *Another cloudfront.net picture *Typical form (all phishing forms look a like) that goes through without entering information *Phone number is dead on facebook site
BEWARE - Another Presto Pizza Offer Is Out On Facebook "Free Presto's Pasta Server" This in addition to the pizza cutter and apron they offered/continuing to offer.
The "real" owner knows about the scam facebook site because I talked to him on the phone when the pizza cutter first came out many months ago, even invited me to a free meal next time I'm in town for telling him. I realize now after months of letting these scams continue that's what he wants! He's enjoying the free advertising, people have to be complaining to him because they're not getting their free goods by now, once he tells them like he told me it's a scam they feel bad for him.
I can't get over how many still fall for this crap and give phishers their privy information. The form is the generic form all scammer's use and the cloudfront.net picture. https://d1sf0m8kms36pp.cloudfront.net/presto/pasta_server.jpg
They also tell you, you'll get a free stainless steel dough scraper
Urgent Care Bumper Repair is back. Offering a car anti-slip mat Original post about them is by Mumzof2 in this thread. Posts are made by newbies, most likely shills for the scammers.
