The complete list of similar stuff is here:
http://apps.irs.gov/app/freeFile/jsp/index.jsp?ck
I recommend looking at a few of the options.

Here's the page with more information and other free options:
http://www.irs.gov/uac/Free-File:-Do-Your-Federal-Taxes-for-Free

I prefer FreeFillableForms, which has no limitations or conditions...everyone can use it, the forms are there for everything, etc.

However, state is not included with FreeFillableForms.

I always file from www.taxslayer.com as my return is simple and I do standard deduction.
Federal is free and state is < $18 and if you have multiple states (which I always have) they charge only $9.90 for additional states compared with other sites which charge equal amount for any additional states.

I always use TurboTax online for free to just check my calculations. Enter dummy personal info but really numbers.

I usually use TurboTax too, but this looks interesting

Some states, e.g., Pennsylvania, offer free state return e-filing for many taxpayers regardless of income.

Thanks... great link !!

why do I think every state is going to get a post in this thread?

Looks like North Carolina does as well:

I am wondering about that list though. I know I used OLT a few years back and they still list north carolina as costing 10 bucks to file.

Indiana

Been doing this for years.

I've used TurboTax software in the past, and now TurboTax is offering federal for free, so I'm taking that route.
