yonatan said:I've been thinking and came up with this idea, I'm looking for your opinions as to whether this idea is good or not:
I was thinking maybe there could be one person maintaining a gmail thread and everybody who got new invitations would send him the links for the invitations. Then, everytime someone wanted an invitation they could post in the thread so the maintainer can see they want one and then send them the link via pm. This would make it easier for people to request invitations because rather than looking for a person who has one they can just post in the thread and receive one. I also think that only people with 5 posts or above (or maybe make it 10 posts or above) should be allowed to request an invitation (maybe a limitation could be put on the thread so only >10-post users can post in it?). The fact that the invitation would be sent by pm and that only 10+ post users would be allowed to request invitations would sift through many of those new members who join just to get an invitation (of course it's very easy to get past this but it's still some sort of protection). Another thing that could be implemented is maybe one post per ip for this thread so people don't get multiple invitations and don't abuse this "service". (although this would hurt families where each member of the family wants an invitation)
Sounds like a good and efficient idea to me, what are your thoughts?
first off, yay for the sticky thread, 2ndly, not too bad of an idea, but a lot of hard work for the "maintainer" gmail invites are so abundant that its fine if people just hand them out the way they are now, it would be rather difficult not to get an invite if you wanted one, so the current system is fine. |
