Hello, Does anybody know where these redbox codes come from? I'm having an ethical dilemma. I think $1.00 for a movie is a fabulous price for renting a dvd. I also think that a DVD vending machine is an ingenous idea, no less teamed up with a giant like McDonald's. Now of course, an even better deal is a free movie, but come on we know that everything comes at some price. I have been ardently using the codes here and insideredbox.com to get free movies, but now I'm doubting myself. If everybody or even a majority did what I did, redbox would most likely be out of business, and then I'd be back to paying over $4 for a new release at my local video rental store. And yet I'd wager that redbox must know about these codes and websites like this one and others which take advantage of the free information system. The only way that redbox might not know is if the people putting out these codes are hackers finding a backhole to the system, then I'd feel terrible. Can anybody out there help me sort through this ethical dilemma? Thanks |

Don't worry, here's some reasons why:
RedBox is sending out the codes themselves.
Redbox is part owned by McDonalds.
More visits to RedBox = more McDonalds purchases. Note the photo above the box.
RedBox appears to be trying to expand their operations and is claiming large numbers of rentals (not mentioning how many are free) in order to get more investors = Way more $$$.
Once RedBox's are everywhere (supermarkets are next) then the codes will disappear and they can raise their prices.
Enjoy it while it lasts, mate! |

I agree with websta. I may be wrong, but my thinking has been that RB is trying very hard to influence a lifestyle change. They give out so many free codes over such an extended period that folks get used to the convenience and, hopefully, the service/quality of the product. Once enough people are hooked/used to the routine & savings then the codes will mysteriously dry up. Then many, if not most, will continue using the service even though they have to pay for it because they like it so much and/or figure they got so many free rentals that it is still cheaper than Bluck Boster and NitFlex, etc. |

I got these same codes in an email today. The RedBox in my location is not in a McDonalds but instead in a Stop&Shop (North Haven, CT). |

thx websta and five talents. That helps tons. Are all these codes only given out from redbox? That would be the final determinant cuz if they are then there's absolutely no problem. Thanks |

I have to agree...insideredbox.com is a great site. Very useful, ive used more codes from there than i could list here, only a handful came back 'invalid'. Also every code is good for each credit card...so if you have 2 cards, you can use each code once on each card. |
