Just Announced! Some new items for the California Academy of Sciences:
NEW! Added 10/2/10 - Fleet Week at California Academy of Sciences, October 7 to 12, Regular Open Hours - In honor of San Francisco Fleet Week, all active duty military personnel are eligible for free admission to the Academy from October 7-12. Must show an active duty military ID card at the ticket window. Offer is valid for general admission from October 7-12, and NightLife on October 7. Must be 21 or older to attend NightLife. The Academy also announced that visitors will be charged an extra $5 if they purchase their tickets at the box office during the following days: • November 26 through November 28, 2010 • December 26, 2010 through January 2, 2011 The Academy will offer extended hours on these days, remaining open until 6:00 pm.

In previous years, during this event, the Giants opened its dugout, press boxes, field, etc. You could do a self-guided tour, even get to sit on the bench and get players' autographs! >> Added 1/8/12 - Sunday, March 4, 2012, Hours 11am to 4pm: San Francisco Museum of Modern Art - SF MOMA Free Family Day - Welcome to our free open house for families! Take part in inventive art projects, hands-on gallery activities, and loads of family fun. What a way to spend a day! Free for families with children 12 and under.
Here are some edits that were made to the listing since last month:
Federal Reserve Bank - Removed. It no longer offers free tours to the public on Fridays at 2pm. The tour is now intended for school groups, community groups, and business groups.
TCHO Chocolate Factory Tour - Reservations are now recommended, not required.
San Francisco Botanical Garden - Has been free everyday for SF residents with proof of residency, but now it's free for everyone on the second Tuesday of each month, New Year's Day, Thanksgiving Day, and Christmas Day.
San Francisco Museum of Craft+Design - Now closed to the public. To re-open in June 2012. We should know the free day next month.
SF Camerawork - Now always free from Tuesday through Friday.
>> Asian Art Museum - As part of the 8th Annual Asian Heritage Street Celebration, the Asian Art Museum will be free to the public on Saturday, May 19, from 10am to 5pm. For more information, click here.
