Details here

The DoD is providing turbo tax software free to military members effective 16 Jan 06. If you're not near an active duty installation (which usually provides free tax services), this is a great benefit. Please spread the word to your military friends and their families.

Great! Been wondering what the turbotax link was for this yr!

According to military.com, the online version of turbo tax will be available for active, reserve, retired, annuitants and federal employees paid by DFAS. Terrific if you're not in a reasonable commuting distance of an active duty installation, but look around-the free service offered thru JAG is terrific, I've used them for the past 4 years. They complete everything and even file electronically (both state and federal), they also don't mind doing special cases (farm land, real estate investments, home businesses, etc).

Looks like the key is whether or not DFAS is your pay source. If it is, you shouldn't have any problem.

Glad to be of help!

Sweet. Thanks op. I guess doing all those pushups did have a benefit.

It's up and running-goto militaryonesource.com, register and you're directed to turbotax online.

Has any retiree try to download yet? It looks like active duty only unless you put your prior service and last base. Thanks

does it cost anything to file fed/state?

Did you try 'other' as duty station? It's definitely open to more than AD, all the states and territories national guard are listed. If you can't get it to work, they have a 1800 number for assistance. Good luck!

Worked flawlessly for me, thanks!

Called the 1-800 number about retirees. They said you can get it if you lie but who wants to take a chance and lie.
