FYI, NYT just did an article on queer homeless youth and how much more likely they are to face abuse at home, which sort of ties into this issue.

Pardon my ignorance,but what exactly is a queer foster child?
Queer = of or relating to an "alternative" sexuality, whether gay, bisexual, trans, etc.
foster children are children who are living under the care of a "stand-in" family, because they have been removed from their custodial parents' home by the state. this usually includes children who are abused or have parents who are unfit, and is a temporary solution until they find long term adoption or permanent state care.
