I got mine about 3 years ago, and it was $600-$800, if memory serves. Yes, expensive-but not when you consider that it lasts for 5 years-you don't have to take a pill everyday, etc.
Also, there is an organization called the Arch Foundation that will help low-income women with no insurance obtain the Mirena for FREE (you must qualify, fill out some paperwork, get a prescription, etc). My sister-in-law was able to get hers for free through this organizatin.
Info and link below:
What is the ARCH Foundation? The ARCH Foundation is a not-for-profit foundation established to assist low income patients who do not have insurance coverage for the Mirena® intrauterine contraceptive system.
For patients such as these who meet specific eligibility criteria, the ARCH Foundation may be able to provide Mirena free of charge.
Assistance is provided on a patient-specific basis according to predetermined eligibility criteria. Patients and providers must complete a one page application form prior to purchase to be considered for assistance. Retroactive assistance is not available.
Assistance may also be available for qualified patients who require removal of Mirena.

EDIT: The assistance PDF application is also on the website.
