Agreed. I'm glad my children's schools require immunizations to be up to date. Also just saying.

And OP, you really can't post something like this without expecting some sort of debate.

I don't plan on telling her or anyone else how to think, but I'll certainly voice my opinion.

My thoughts are that this post will get flamed--not only for the subject matter, but mostly for the OP's attitude.

The OP is having all the remarks deleted.

OK Mods, I can play nicer, how about this:

This bumper sticker and the organization that is giving it away conveys a perspective on vaccines that is not scientifically supported, and is indeed rejected by by the Center for Disease Control, American Academy of Pedicatrics, the Food & Drug Administration, and the Institute of Medicine's Immunization Review Committee.

Hmmm...I don't mind this post. My cat developed cancer because of a vaccine(I know this is about humans) but maybe it could help to educate about that. He is no longer with me. This is only meant to educate people not necessarily conform them.

As they say, there's no "free lunch". This group is pushing their political agenda with bumper stickers. If you want a free bumper sticker and agree with their message, have at it. I think most FWers are savvy enough to know what they are getting when they ask for a bumper sticker.

It could be Save the Whales, pro-this, anti-that, it's all about getting your message heard. Bumpers stickers are an effective means of promoting your cause.

Are vaccines safe? That depends on your perspective. I have to give some kudos to the polio and small pox vaccine. When small pox kills a third of its victims, it's nice to have it wiped out by world-wide vaccination. Are companies pushing their vaccines to make money? Yes. Is every vaccine safe every time? No. There are benefits and risks to vaccines. It's up to you to make an informed decision. Personally, we vaccinate but are choosy about how and when. I have declined certain newer vaccines that I don't think give enough benefit for the risk.

Every state in this country (yes, EVERY state) has exemptions for vaccinations. All but 2 have religious/philosophical exemptions. The 2 I am talking about are West Virginia and Mississippi which only have medical exemption.

Public schools in the United States are required by law to accept the exemptions that are legal for their states. Schools say that vaccinations are "required" because they are required if you don't have the exemption. Conveniently they don't tell people that they have a choice.

Have schools refused kids with exemptions? Yes. Have public school districts been sued for refusing the exemptions? Yes. Most school districts know about the exemptions but some are ignorant.

And people really need to stop being so paranoid and up in arms about unvaccinated kids. They do NOT pose a threat to vaccinated children. If vaccines work so well, those who vaccinate should have nothing to fear of unvaxed kids. And over 80% of adults have ZERO immunity to the diseases that they received vaccinations for as children. Food for thought.

I don't mind discussing things, but I'm not here to debate this topic. Those who don't vax have the same rights as those who do and there's nothing to argue about on that matter.

As for the deleted post - calling someone uneducated or an idiot because they don't vax is childish. Most people who refuse vaxes are very well educated on the topic and would never refuse the vaxes unless they had a good reason to refuse them. It's usually those who vax that aren't fully educated on the topic - they just get vaxes because the CDC or their doctor says to do it. They aren't making a truly informed decision by taking the word of some doctor or government agency without investigating other opinions and taking into account information from outside sources that are NOT affiliated with pharmaceutical companies that manufacture the vaccines.

So yeah, people should think twice about vaccines just like they should think twice before getting major surgery or doing anything else that may impact the rest of their lives.

thanks for the link my autistic son and I will be proud to display it.He became Autistic at the age of two because I didn't know I had a choice.

Most of us adults now, look back and see how many vaccines we were given when we were kids. Then find out how many are kids getting today.

In the end, science is what matter, not what someone "thinks".

Before the vaccine was invented, Polio ran rampant, infecting hundreds of thousands of people a year. After the vaccine, the disease was eradicated from the United States. This fact is indisputable.
