I saw on TV a commerical from Charter Communications Cable offering FREE HBO & Cinnemax or Showtime & Encore till the end of the year. It's a Thank You gift for customers.
I just called Charter right now and mentioned the TV ad and she asked me which offer I would like to have HBO & Cinnemax or Showtime, The Movie Channel & Encore. I have free HBO & Cinnemax already so I added the Showtime package. She said that it's been added to my TV and will be free till the end of Dec. No hassle or questions.... Just thought that I'd share this.

It always works when you call because the online chat people are from India or somewhere and don't usually have any clue on things! I got my free 1 yr HBO & Cinnemax from a Fatwallet posting that actually was for only 6 month and had just expired but I called anyways and it worked! If you truly want something call the company, people online are just sitting there in their PJs in some foreign country!

I can also confirm this deal. I just hope I don't get a crazy bill in the mail next month.
Called today and was told by CS that the deal is only available for California and Missouri subscribers. I'll try again Monday just to see if that's really true, or just because of the agent I got on the phone.
Yes. Just called and the CSR signs me up with no problem. I saw it on TV last week and thought is for new customers only. But the CSR said is also for existing customers. (I am in S. Cal.)

Spoke with an English speaking Traci, (so bubbly she probably tops her 'i' with a heart) and she was very helpful. I played the dumb card, as I am a HD customer but received no mailed offers, only hearing about this free offer by accident here on FatWallet! It is a choice of homebox and cinemax or showtime and/or encore. Any package you choose is good for 12 months according to Traci. She routed the signal while on the phone with me. Instant gratification! If you have more than one digital box, make sure to let them know to send the signal to all of them.

The promotion is still active as of today. I just add Showtime, The Movie Channel & Encore for free and HBO & Cinnemax for $5.
I have called 5 times, no charter operator as heard of any of these promotions, and my local office has no idea at all what it is either (Southern Oregon)
I also got an e-mail from Charter that they are offering Free for 1 yr HD service. Call them and ask about that also. I have the free movie channels and now HD service! The CSR gave me free installation so make sure when you contact Charter to have them include that, it'll save you $29.99!
