WOW sweet!!! Just wrote it on my calendar.

Doesn't anybody wonder ... WHY?

I mean what is the connection?
Dr. Pepper CEO just a big GnR fan or does Axl and Slash own a big piece of the company?

C'mon, you gotta wonder!

thanks op!

Awesome!

I know it's a guy that works there in the marketing dept. that started this. And btw, slash is no longer in the band and was disqualified from receiving a free dr. pepper.

Now if we could only keep this thread active for a month!

thx op!!!

Not unless your going to keep your taco for one month - the free DP isn't until November 23rd.

There should be a way to have an automatic bump the day before!

I bet the free Dr P. is much better than the album

Would love a link if that's on the web somewhere.

What if the release is delayed?

I filled out all the questions and still does not state anywhere that I will be
getting a coupon for a dr pepper? Interesting

Dr Pepper issues challenge to Guns N' Roses

NEW YORK (Billboard) - Many have tried, but so far nobody has been able to pry the decade-in-the-works Guns N' Roses album "Chinese Democracy" from the hands of lone remaining original member Axl Rose.

Now, Dr Pepper thinks it's up to the challenge. The soft drink company says it will give a free can of Dr Pepper to "everyone in America" (excluding ex-Guns members Slash and Buckethead) if "Chinese Democracy" arrives anytime during the calendar year 2008.

Rose responded on his band's web site (http://www.gunsnroses.com) that the band was "surprised and very happy to have the support of Dr Pepper." But the offer did not prompt him to rose to the challenge.

"Chinese Democracy" was most recently scheduled for release in March 2007, but promptly vanished from the schedule without a new date being set. Rose said at the time that all the recording had been completed, but there were some "scheduling difficulties."

It will be the first album of fresh Guns N' Roses material since the 1991 sets "Use Your Illusion I" and "Use Your Illusion II." Rose has reportedly burned through $13 million in recording expenses for "Chinese Democracy," and also burned his bridges with the bandmates who helped him turn Guns into one of the biggest rock groups in the world by the early 1990s.

Follow up article when Axl found out:

Axl Rose is 'very happy' about Dr Pepper's Guns N' Roses pledge

Axl Rose has responded to an offer by soft drink company Dr Pepper in which they promised a free can of their drink to every American - except Slash and Buckethead - if the band releases their 'Chinese Democracy' album this year.

Rose said he was "surprised and very happy" about the offer, but denied the record label or himself were involved in the pledge.

Posting on Guns N Roses' website, Rose stated: "We are surprised and very happy to have the support of Dr Pepper with our album 'Chinese Democracy', as for us, this came totally out of the blue.

"If there is any involvement with this promotion by our record company or others, we are unaware of such at this time. And as some of Buckethead's performances are on our album, I'll share my Dr Pepper with him."

As reported yesterday, Dr Pepper's Marketing Director Jaxie Alt made the offer, explaining: “We completely understand and empathise with Axl's quest for perfection – for something more than the average album."

Rose's inclusion of former guitarist Buckethead in the offer means Slash, guitarist in the band during their 'golden' period, is now the only American on the planet who would not get a free drink.

'Chinese Democracy' has been in the pipeline since 1993, when the group released their covers album 'The Spaghetti Incident?', but its release date has continually been pushed back.

An estimated $13m in recording expenses have been built up in the making of 'Chinese Democracy'.

Good idea, thanks! I was trying to think of a way to remember to check this in November.

Skipping 179 Messages...

Still nothing, but I think the coupons were set to expire already. I guess another testament that this was a poorly planned and executed promotion.
