I did this the last time it came up - and I got the 500 miles eventually. BUT - I also got constant emails and phone calls from several insurance agents for a couple of months.

I got in on the offer last time -- and got whacked with a credit bureau inquiry. I can't tell if it was a hard or soft inquiry -- but it showed up on my report, and I purposely did not give them my SS nbr. I was not happy.
