yay! hopefully other states will follow.

I recycle, but I wouldn't want paper w no handle.

Kind of a joke as there are so many convenience products that waste packaging, where's the law....

Environmental impact studies keep showing that banning plastic bags is bad for the environment. And still, these laws which are bad for the environment still get past.

There's an article on my local Patch about a town in my area banning plastic bags and asking if our town should do it. A few Tea Party folks are arguing that the government has no business telling people what kind of bags they can use.

If you are not familiar with it, Patch is a website owned by AOL with local news by community. Quite useful.

environmental impact "studies" or guesses at what might happen if bags were eliminated?
if we are going to ban plastic bags, i think there should be a green alternative. make bags that are biodegradable.

but people should just use totes and recycled bags. i prefer the ones that can be thrown in the wash or the ones that can easily be wiped off (like recycled rice bag totes).
i personally don't like the ones in most grocery stores because they can't be washed.

i don't agree with a tax on bags, because people will just be paying the tax and still getting the bags.

it's a REAL problem. don't just dismiss it.

Los Angeles is financially bankrupt and the imbeciles on the City Council have nothing better to do than pass utterly meaningless laws to make it seem they are dong something.
Fine, I'll do my grocery shopping in near-by Glendale.
