Some do and some don't. Wal-Mart will match any sales price except what they define as "gimic" sales. Basically a "gimic" sale is Buy One Get One Free (B1G1), a straight percentage off (sometimes you can get a cashier to take this though, especially if you know the regular shelf price and can tell them what the actual sales price is after the percent off), and any sales where you have to buy something to get something. (For instance, buy the X2 DVD & get a free bag of M&Ms.)
What you can do to stretch your manufacturers coupons and save gas is plan ahead with the sales papers. Figure out the best prices on what you have coupons for and make a list that tells the price, what item it is and what store the sale is at. Then you can do all your shopping at Wal-Mart and get the best sales prices in one place.
One warning, while the official corporate policy is to take a customer's word on the prices, many store managers don't seem to understand this and tell their cashiers they have to have a copy of the ad to comp the item. You can easily defeat this by bringing the ads with you just in case. Oh yes, if your store follows the policy correctly you can comp everyday prices at any store as well, just tell the cashier what the price is and where.
Oh, one last thing, some states don't allow stores to comp certain items at all. For instance cigarettes and alcholic beverages are very common. Some states don't allow milk to be comped. If you're told they can't comp the item at all then there's nothing you can do. |

Hi.
I used to do refunding but dropped it years ago. I want to start again.
My problem is that my household does very little "convenience food" buying. I make my own bread, yoghurt. Am looking at making my own cheeses as well. Aside from OJ, milk, meat, catfood, and veggies we buy very few packaged goods. Got any ideas on how I could start refunding again?
Or am I just out of luck?

No, unless you have family members who live in a different location than you, then you can use their address to fill out the rebate form. Also, on some rebate form, they say that you can't use PO boxes. Applying for additional boxes would be illegal, too. |

Newbie Question - Ok, I saw the info about Double Coupons, etc..., but I still have a question. If your store does double coupons, (in general) does this happen automatically at the register when you use a coupon, or do they give you another "Double" coupon, do you have to ask everytime you go in, How does this work?
I just don't want to seem like I have no idea what I'm talking about when I go ask the stores in my area. Thanks, Tara |

If they do it, you shouldn't have to ask. What happens is you hand them a .40 coupon, they scan it and .40 comes off your bill and .40 comes off your bill...usually it will say something on your receipt like GCRY cpn 0.40, DBL cpn 0.40.
You have to make sure the coupon does not say Do Not Double. Some stores require your store card is swiped before the coupons will double. |

I printed out a cherrios cupon and went to Albertsons in San Francisco. They told me it is store policy, no internet cupons. They said they have been burned by fradulent cupons and won't take a chance. Just thought I'd share my bad and unanticipated experience. MElissa |

You have to make sure the coupon does not say Do Not Double. Some stores require your store card is swiped before the coupons will double. That store would be Ingles. You need to have your Ingles Advantage card before your coupons will double. Learned that the hard way. |

I email companies who have internet printable coupons posted on their websites and ask if they can please send me coupons by mail because my store does not accept printed ones. This is ther eply I received. It appears the stores CAN NOT say they don't take them. HTH someone out there!
We were sorry to learn of the problem you encountered with our website coupons.
Website generated coupons should be accepted wherever coupons are accepted. It would be most helpful if you could provide us with the name and address of the store that would not accept your printed coupons so that corrective measures can be taken to resolve this matter.
We apologize for any inconvenience this has caused you.
