I think it's a great idea. Maybe they'll have some good deals to make up for no doubling. I think alot of us stopped shopping there after doubling stopped. I know I haven't been there since October.
I quit. Not worth the 30+ mile drive. Has anyone's store had any "special" days that they did double? Some mentioned it was possible back when the bad news hit.

Didn't someone on this board have a price database for FRED'S? It sure would be helpful if that was posted again. Now we can get ready to shop with Double coupons on Saturdays again.

Today, the new ad is out, check with first post to get url on new ad.
we'll have to see what new scoops (good deals with doubles up to $1) we can come up with
I know the recent Aquafresh toothbrush $1/1 should get you the twinpack for free when doubled.

Oh, what a long day it's been, but all the shopping at Fred's and Target went off without a hitch...here's the Fred's scoop. I didn't test the flavor rule or try to get multiples- I was happy to just use one of each coupon- I can always go back next weekend!!!
I'd like to thank BayouBabe for posting her list!!!! I live 40 miles from Fred's, but luckily I have a class in the same city it's in on Saturday mornings, so I just run in after class. The price list was invaluable in helping me plan as I have no time to look at prices other than on Saturdays. Hopefully I can get a good perpetual list going...
Oh, and my total before coupons was just over 33, after coupons just under 6, so a savings of almost 83%!!!!

i found the best way is to take their weekly ads, and some index cards, alphabetically list the things you purchase on those cards, and the sale price. or list them all for every one. im sure the list i have is a collaborative effert. so lets do help each other out. especially since the list hasnt been updated since october 31st 03 lol

The Freds in my town doubles too! Yay! I went today to see how they would handle things and they were so nice about it! My total before coupons was 48.98. After coupons 22.03. I know it's not anywhere close to how ya'll do it but I'm just getting started and I was thrilled! The cashier was even happy for me! I hope they don't stop doubling since they are the only ones close to me that do. I have to drive 50 miles to get to Kroger, which I also did today. My total there was 225.49 before coupons, and 105.15 after!!! The best part is, I won't have to buy groceries for a month!! Now I can start just picking up the best deals and sales. Can you tell I'm excited about this?? LOL

Ok, I'm a bit upset.
From my understanding (and please correct me if I'm wrong!) their corporate doubling policy says something to the effect of "one coupon per customer per day." Right? ??? Husband & I went to Fred's tonight and grabbed about 8 things total, 3 were doubles of the same item. We had two separate sets of coupons (5 for me, 3 for husband) and went to the checkout line. I wanted to confirm with the cashier that if we had two separate orders with two payments and two different people, we *could* in fact use coupons for same items in these two SEPARATE ORDERS with DIFFERENT PEOPLE PAYING.
She got in my face and told me no. That's not the way it works. They can only double ONE of the same coupon no matter how many orders or how many different people come in with you. I said where's your manager. The manager on duty peered over the manager room platform walls, and babbles on about the one coupon per set of people per day. I told him that we were TWO separate people with two different orders. He said it didn't matter, that in the past (accusing tone) people were abusing the policy, so they stopped doubling and have now put up new rules to enforce that their stock won't be depleted by one person hoarding them all.
That's fine, I understand they think in the past the policy was being abused, but I came in with the knowledge that it was one coupon per person per day. I wasn't trying to pull one over on them. I asked him how on earth are you going to enforce that policy? Husband is a separate person and we could just get in line separately. He said absolutely not and they wouldn't honor the coupons on the second transaction.
I'm SO pissed about this. I *really* wasn't trying to be difficult, and I didn't get anything for FREE anyway, I didn't like his attitude towards me. What to do?

are yall having any trouble with the overage ?? I've heard that some say if the doubled coupon is more than the price of the product you cannot use it ? just testing the waters to see if anyone has had this happen to them yet.

When I checked out the manager asked me to put my coupons with the product. As he was ringing the items up, he noted the price of any products that would have generated overage on their coupons, and then manually entered the coupon for that price so that I would get the item free but with no overage. I was happy with free!

I havent been to a Fred's yet, Im wondering if it is a grocery store, or like a WalMart? Is there regular food? Or just snacks? THANKS!
Manufacturer Coupon: A manufacturer coupon is a coupon for cents-off or dollars off a product, that the customer obtains from newspapers, magazines, direct mailings, the internet, etc. It is valid at any Fred’s store that the specific item featured on the coupon is sold.
A VALID coupon will have the product description, cents off amount, expiration date, and an address to send the coupon for redemption.
Fred’s Policy
1. Fred’s will only accept manufacturer’s coupons that feature items that we carry. (No competitor’s coupons are to be accepted) The item featured on the coupon must be the exact item that we sell, or we do NOT accept the coupon. The item must be the same brand, style, flavor, scent, size specified by the coupon. 2. Fred’s will accept internet coupons, however these must be printed in color. 3. All valid manufacturer’s coupons are accepted at face value at Fred’s every day. 4. ON SATURDAYS ONLY Fred’s will double the face value of manufacturer coupons up to $1.00. $1.00 coupons are doubled. (ONLY 1 coupon per identical item is doubled, ONLY 1 identical coupon will be doubled per customer per Saturday) 5. NO MONEY WILL BE RETURNED for coupons that exceed the price of the product. 6. Tobacco coupons are NOT doubled regardless of the face value of the coupon. 7. Coupons which are expired ARE NOT accepted. If the coupon is presented the DAY it expires, the coupon must be accepted.
For example:
A customer may purchase 4 tubes of Crest toothpaste, however if they have more than one coupon for the toothpaste, the first coupon will be doubled and the additional coupons will be taken at face value. If the customer wishes to purchase more than one flavor of an item and the coupon lists a variety of flavors, only one identical coupon will be doubled and the additional coupons will be taken at face value.

I keep an Excel spreadsheet of running Fred's deals with my coupons, and tonight I decided to copy it to a web page for everyone's reference: Click me!!!
If you'd like to add a deal to the page, please post all the information here so that I can add it to the table.
Note that I haven't researched any possible deals with this week's coupons yet- I live quite a ways away from Fred's and only get there on Saturdays. Here are the coupons that look promisinig from tthe 3.28 inserts, though:
Sun Maid Dried Fruit, 6oz or larger $1.00 5/30/2004 (I know the 6 packs of raisins are $1, so this should net two free packs) Scotch Magic Tape or Gift Wrap Tape, multipack or individual, 3 rolls $1.00 5/31/2004
Feel free to add anything else you may find!!
BTTW, the circular was supposed to be posted today, but is not up yet.

They are doubling again? I used to go to Gonzales or Hammond.
Thanks sonicflame for your hard work. I was planning to do something like this to better organize my shopping at Fred's. Did you price shop the aisles and put it in Excel or did you copy, paste and sort from an internet list? Thanks for your help in figuring the best way to track these sale items.

wow--great list, I spend all week trying to map out my Saturday Fred's visits--it's my new addiction
Don't forget to add that you can get Huggies baby wipes (80ct tub) for .49 with 1.00 off coupon(sorry not sure which insert, I'm not that organized), when you have two babies in diapers like I do ANYTHING to save in the diapering dept. is gold!!

I shop the aisles at my local store, since the prices may vary. I haven't found the Huggies baby wipes at mine, but I will try to add it to the web site tonight. If anyone else has any new deals to add, please send me the details!! There are some good things expiring in the next couple of weeks, and I don't want the list to get progressively shorter!

Ok, needing a bit of advice again...
Went to Fred's tonight w/ hubby (again) after reviewing the coupon policy in this thread, that states "one coupon per person per day" and manager refuses to let hubby check out separately w/ the same coupons that I used in my order (for same items, different set of coupons). Cashier stated "one per couple.. . you guys are together, right? Our policy is one per family."
Where can I get an actual COPY of their policy. If I am in the wrong, then fine I don't have a problem with that. I didn't ask for a written policy because I had this problem in there three weeks ago... the manager has it out for us.
Please help!

The Fred's we are referring to is in the East. I think you may be thinking of Fred Meyer, which doesn't double.
