...12 oz. steaks are for the weak.

Nice deal OP, but kindly edit your post, its confusing. I think you copied and pasted the menu making them separated by the words "bullet" instead of the actual bullet.

none for Louisville either, darn...

Been to a half a dozen different Mortons and three different Ruth Chris' - Ruth has them beat, hands down, and I am very particular (like mine "Pittsburg" style). There are better steak houses, better ones in Louisville in fact - Pat's, Jeff Ruby's. However, for the price this is a great deal.

Off the chain OP!!

I just went to Ruth's about two weeks ago. Excellent food and excellent service. Everyone make sure they jump on this deal.. it is a steal!!

The petite fillet itself is $35 regular price, not counting any sides etc.

I agree, real men either eat or at least try and eat the 72 oz'er Top Sirloin meal at least once at the Big Texan Steak House in Amarillo....

Now that's a STEAK, and a good one at that....

BTW, back in the early 70's I tried my first 72 oz'er TS meal only to be udderly embarrassed when I couldn't get the last seven bites down.......

But even more embarrassed when I walked into the parking lot and up-chucked the entire meal in front of a restaurant full of customers looking out the windows that fronted the restaurant.

---------------------------

A little bit of history about the history of the 72 oz'er:

Bob, always ready to have some fun, gave him a big grin and started cooking steaks.

When the cowboy finally yelled, “calf rope,” he had consumed 4 ˝ pounds of meat.

Bob declared from that day forward, the meal would be free to anyone who could eat it all in 1 hour.

Since then, almost 42,000 people from around the world have traveled to Amarillo and attempted to eat the specially cut 72-oz. top sirloin steak, a baked potato, salad, dinner roll and shrimp cocktail.

About 8,000 have succeeded in completing the feat and joining the ranks of Big Texan champions.

They come from all walks of life.

Winners have included an 11-year-old boy and a 69-year-old grandmother.

Former Cincinnati Reds Pitcher Frank Pastore did it in a record time of 9 ˝ minutes.

The unofficial record for the fastest time belongs to a Bengal Tiger. His meal was limited to the steak only and he dined in the front of the building. The technique was the simplest we've ever seen: sniff, lick, gulp! It took him less than 90 seconds.

One year the linebackers and linemen from UCLA flew into Amarillo to take the challenge. Unfortunately, none of their names made it to the “Wall of Fame” on that visit.

Some come in on a regular basis to claim their FREE meal.

Back in the ‘60s professional wrestler Klondike Bill ate two of the dinners within the one-hour time limit.

Richard LeFavre, a soft-spoken gent from Nevada, ate two of the steaks on the Donny and Marie Show in the 1990s.

No deals for Ft. Lauderdale Bummer.

I don't go to steak houses b/c they can't (or won't) cook my steak the way I want it. I eat it well done, or even medium-well. I went to this above referenced location in hopes of giving them a try for their great reputation. I sent it back for the 2nd and last time after they didn't get it right both times. Is it really that hard to cook a damn steak well done? I mean, it's not a TGIF, I expect more (esp at that price). And they were expecting me to pay for it too!!

Not a chance for me to go back.

Very nice Deal...great Steakhouse

An unneccessary warning for a true steaklover, who would never abuse a steak by having it cooked more than medium rare. If you like steak overcooked like that, you'd be a fool to pay Ruth's Chris's prices as the tenderness of the prime meat you're paying for is completely lost. clive27 said:Beware that their well-done steak is more like half-carbonized steak, and medium-well is about very well-done steak.

Never order a steak well-done.
If you do the chef will give you worst cut of meat (no marbelization).
Its almost an insult to chef to order a steak well done...........

The rational is that a well-done steak is going to be dry and somewhat tough by nature
so why not give them the worst cut to begin with. A self fufulling prophesy....

Anyone find LA or Beverly Hills location for this deal?

Cut out the Hannity and Limbaugh ad budget and the meals could be half the price.

Sorry, but any good steak house worth their salt will have a waiver on their menu stating that they are not responsible for any steaks cooked Medium Well to Well Done. In fact, most real chef's are rather insulted when people ask them to burn their food. It's actually really hard to cook a steak that well done and not turn it into a dried up hunk of jerky. Not only that, but by ordering a MW-W done steak, you've just consigned the rest of your dining party to an additional 20-30 minute wait for their food. If you want leather, why not just get some A1 and gnaw on your shoe...
