It's okay. This isn't a bad deal only because of the regular very high prices. Ruth's Chris and Morton's are about on par with each other. Similar concepts (ala cart), cuts and grades of beef, but Morton's has a better ambience. These are chain restaurants despite the high price, so don't expect to be blown away with imaginative, tastebud provoking fare. It's more like standardized, proven, decently executed menu food. On an honest note, probably the best value today given the quality is the 12 ounce New York Strip @ Texas Roadhouse ($14.99). It is choice beef, but tastes as good, if not better than prime. Don't believe me? Go give it a shot and see for yourself - puts Outback, Lonestar, and especially Logan's to absolute shame. In a different league. I actually like the flavor and texture better than Morton's or Ruth's Chris. The service at Ruth's Chris is good. On par with Capital Grille. |

Meh...would rather go to a real local steakhouse with aged Prime beef, wood-fired grill over a chain eatery any day of the week. I understand some cities only have Ruth's as the best in town, and this may be a good deal for them...for others, search out a better meal for the same $, or less. |

While I love Ruth's there are so many other less expensive quality steak houses where we live that I consider it a special occasion restaurant now. About the only time we go now is for an anniversary or birthday unless I can right it off as a legit business expense against my company. |

My first visit to Ruth's Chris was in NYC last summer during restaruant week. For $33, they served a similar menu. The salad was average but the steak was great. Take a great steak, cook it perfectly, serve it on a ridiculously hot platter with butter sizzling on it. Yum! Sides and dessert were very good. Decided to make a return visit about a week ago at regular menu prices. They are expensive and, as previously mentioned, everything is ala carte. A side order of thin, crispy fries is $9 as, I believe, most starches were. My ribeye was $44 or $46 by itself, but it was much larger than the restaurant week steak. If you have a drink or two, you easily will spend $100 per person including tax and tip. If I were near any of the locations with this deal, I'd be there! |

Never order a steak well-done. If you do the chef will give you worst cut of meat (no marbelization). Its almost an insult to chef to order a steak well done...........
It's as much as an insult that a customer can't get what he ordered after two chances. I know most of you don't eat steak well-done, but when I'm paying for it, I want it cooked the way I want, not how the chef decides to cook it or how he himself eats it. If you know how to cook (like a chef at a steakhouse should) it's not hard to have a juicy medium-well to well done steak. |

In the various Mortons Steak House $99 Dinner for Two threads, there were so many people saying how Ruth & Chris was much better. Yet the same TCing is going on here (for a deal that is 10% less), hopefully not by the same people who said how good R&C is in the other threads. The concept is really simple and is the same for the Mortons deal: This is good deal for THIS restaurant. If you never go out for a $50+ pp meal, then this is not for you. Could you eat cheaper, sure. Next time to go to McDonalds and drop $7 on a Value meal just remember that you could have bought a ton of Ramen noodle lunches for the same price and had meals all week There is always an argument against and in justification of a decision. |

I'm off topic here, but if you ever get a bad, underdone steak, and they offer to cook it through more, I will nearly guarantee they will pop it in the microwave, and not back in the oven or on the grill - even if they PROMISE you they won't zap it. Moral of the story - if you don't want your steak put in the microwave (this is blasphemy to me, personally), insist on a new steak. If you don't care, let them zap it. |

Anyone going to Hawaii can visit the Waikiki beach Ruths Chris and they have a special happy hour promotion which runs from 5-6 in the evening and they serve the same menu for 39 bucks a person. I thought it was worth every dollar. |

ruth's chris is a RIPOFF of a place. i've been there, foods great and all, but it's TOTALLY not worth the rip-off, IN MY PERSONAL OPINION. the deal in this thread seems more like the right price that ruth's chris should always be, again, in my opinion. great find. side-note: i HATE the name of this place. it sounds so stupid. Couldn't it be a better male-female name instead of RUTH? it's too manly of a name |

My opinion for Steakhouses in the San Diego area Donovan's > Mortons and Flemings (tie) > Ruth's Chris All use the same method of broiling the meat at like 1800 degrees for a couple minutes - thats why there's so much flavor. Ruth's Chris in Palm Springs is about on par with the San Diego one. I agree that 89 bucks is a good deal for a dinner for two, but if you get drinks then you're well over 100 bucks, then add on tip so you're about 120 bucks. For the price of a single steak at one of these places just go to Costco and buy a 5 pack of New Yorks or Ribeyes or Filets and grill them up yourself. Put on Montreal Steak Seasoning, grill at 400 degrees or higher for about 5 minutes a side - and BAM, you have a superb steak rivaling these places IMO. |

If you want cheap then go to Costco and buy some beans and make bean soup. If you want to live it up on occasion then go to Ruth's. However forget about the special and get a Rib Eye. It's the best steak I ever had. Morton's isn't even close. (there's no way I'd go to Ruth's and knaw on a chicken carcass or a stupid strip steak) |

Unless the steak is marinated and thin you can't have a juicy well done or medium well steak. You cook a steak well done all the blood and fat are burnt off and those are the juice. juicy well done steak, definitely an oxymoron.... I'll bet 20 bucks you can't find a juicy well done 4" steak If you think logically, what's the point of having a meat cooked medium or medium rare if it'd taste the same as well done. |

Based on my last visit, this is about a 50% savings. Of course, the menu is limited. I usually get the prime rib or a filet when I go, but a good strip steak ain't bad. The Creamed Spinach and Sweet Potato Casserole are two of my favorite sides. |
