This is a good idea, most recipes call for half stick if it's not the whole stick. I hate leaving the other half in the wrapper cause it won't cover it properly... |

Yeah, great idea IMO. Even if you're not using it for baking, it's nice to only half the open half the amount at once. |

You mean nobody is going to say "technically this isn't free because you have spend .41 to mail in the rebate?" (just playin' with you all) |

michaelkenyon said:jaburg said:That whole "less for more" idea is a real ugly trend. I think it all started with the bacon guys cutting you back to 12 oz. from a pound. Then the cereal guys with less weight in the same box. I honestly wish they would be up front and just keep things the same size and raise the damn price honestly. I feel like they think we're stupid and won't notice or something. It's really bad with candy, too. Reeses Peanut Butter cups are like half the size they used to be. Worst of all is those damn tasty Peppridge Farm cookies. They shrink every 6 months it seems. I just bought the club size pack of Zest bar soap. It is now sculpted into a funky shape, but there is clearly less soap. I'd say 1/3 less soap. IMO, the funky shape is to try and disguise the shrink, and make it fit inside the regular size boxes. I think this trend started with ice cream several years ago. It used to be 1/2 gallon, now it is less. |

Great freebie! And I love Land O Lakes. I think the idea is to make it portioned for baking, since many recipes call for half-sticks. And baking is pretty much what I use pure butter for, Bob's Red Mill Whole Wheat Chocolate Chip Cookies won't be the same without. I use their canola oil and butter blend in the tubs for cooking. You get the flavor of the butter, with less saturated fat. BTW, butter can be wrapped and frozen for long-term storage. So, if you don't consume it much, freeze the blocks in a zipper baggie, get out what you want when needed, allow to soften before using. I definitely won't turn down free butter. |

dateach said:Free is good...especially for butter! When do we ever get butter for free? Thanks!I agree its a good post. I saw it earlier over at SD where it got a lot of reps, too. Its not exactly free though. How much does a stamp cost now? Plus the time and effort to make sure you save the receipt, filling out the form, addressing the envelope, mailing it, keeping track of it to make sure that you actually receive the rebate (if its even worth that to you). But still, that's something you're going to buy anyway...it would make it more tempting if it wasn't one per offer. Hey, I'll probably end up doing it. Green OP. BTW, up to a value of $4.39? How the freak much does butter cost now? I usually stock up when its on sale for $1.99. |

Maybe it isn't exactly free, but how long has it been since you were able to get a pound of butter for 41 cents? That is just basically a giveaway. BTW, I guess I wonder what OP means. I have heard it used a lot |
