My local Shoprite Flyer (Hudson Valley, NY) shows that shoprite is offering a 10% bonus on Rebate Stimulus checks turned into Gift Cards.($300 up to $1200 I believe it said) Fine Print allows for ones that were directly deposited too by just bring in a bank statement showing it. 10% off on groceries isn't a bad deal.

Nice deal, ShopRite has some of the best grocery prices in my area to start and we do most of our shopping there. Will have to look into this!

haven't seen this in my shoprite yet. this is a nice deal. keep in mind, most of us are getting 6% from the citicard program, but hey, it's an extra 4%.

Palooza,

If your rebate check is direct deposited, just bring the bank statement and charge the gift cards and get the extra 10% bonus on it, you'll come out way ahead.

thats an awesome idea! sadly no d.d. for me (i paid them by snail mail, figured i'll get the extra interest until they cash it so rebate stimulus wont be dd for me)

Linky to this promo on shoprites website!

Anybody know if Shoprite sells gift cards to other stores, and if you can buy those cards with a Shoprite card?

yes, and yes! they do have gift card racks that you can buy other gift cards with and you can pay with a shoprite gift card. now we're getting creative!

The fine print on the Shop Rite website link in crazypalooza's post says gift card purchases must be made with cash or debit card to qualify (if your stimulus rebate was direct deposited). YMMV, though, as I can see this sneaking by the cashier.

man, i didnt get a rebate stimulus

can i just bring them $600 (or $1200 for joint) and ask for 10% added on a gift card?

I suppose I could "mock up" a bank statement, but that would be 'wrong'

anyone know if they are doing anything with the info or just making sure its limited to 1 per family?

This is on the promo website:

"ShopRite gift cards cannot be used toward the purchase of alcohol, lottery tickets, tobacco products, additional gift cards or gift certificates, postage stamps, money orders, money transfers, bus ticket sales, fuel and Metro passes or any other items prohibited by law."

Might still be worth trying though.

ed: I've done it in the past. I assume it may be a small ymmv, but ive never had an issue doing it.

TAX REFUND CHECK too!!

The ShopRite website also reads: "GOVERNMENT ISSUED ECONOMIC STIMULUS or TAX REFUND CHECK"!

You can get gift cards for your Tax Refund, too.

$300 dollar increments.
